That might be just fine for many potential customers if there are significant power enhancements, but not so much if it has more nominal power increases.

There's no reason to use a different ECU for a factory tweaked engine, just change the calibration.

Just like the blurbs we got about the 2004 USDM STi?

I paid $45k for a 2011 STi Limited... that's $48.9K in 2017 dollars.

That was for a very well optioned "normal" Limited, NOT a special edition. You might want to adjust your expectations.

That's true, but nowadays lots has changed and you can get an STI limited for invoice

I honestly think it will be too impractical for me to want as a daily driver. The two main things would kill it for me would be no AC and stiffer suspension. My STI's suspension isn't exactly what I would call soft. If I go over a speed bump anything but straight on its like someone grabbing you and shaking you side to side as hard as they can.

I'm thinking this is going to be more of a track or weekend car but I will be watching.

Leak what though? Subaru is very good at keeping secrets. The 2004 was well kept(best kept by some measures) because they had the "regular" JDM STi to talk about. This RA would be EASY to hide as the body has existed for several years now. One could have driven by your house and you'd never know it. The things I have found out that have been on the streets testing......you'd never know. EASY to keep this secret. Especially because we expect just another body kit and special color.

My thing is I believe SOA will finally show out with this....BUT.... will set a precedent. Maybe one they will live up to. HOPEFULLY one they live up to. If this is a true RA, then I see this as one of the first to bring more STI to the states(BRZ being another). People will then EXPECT more. Demanding an STI Forester, Legacy......! Fingers crossed.

Rumor has it its running on Bilsteins. As to what kind, adjustable or fixed, no idea. But Bilsteins have a tendency to be rather good riding shocks.

Probably the same setup off the s207.

Really think its just gunna be similiar version of the s207. Whether or not they decide to stick an 2.0liter will be the real kicker. But supposedly there's some guy out there with special edition sti that already has an fa in it.

It wouldn't be leaks as much as it would be publicly posted documents such as the EPA filings like we see. Same thing when everyone was curious of the 2018 WRX/STi would be different but found the same EPA ratings as the 2015-2017 so we already knew the engine. There are other tell-tale things in those documents, such as port injection versus direct injection.

Not sure why Subaru USA's official social media accounts would be hyping up the unveil if it weren't coming, but who knows.

I mean in general. Think of all the spy threads and articles. Companies even do it on purpose. Like Subaru only posting a picture of a wing (another option would be nice), instead of the whole car. Of course it's a tactic to keep consumers hooked, but my point is that now it may even be said it is expected of them to do this, considering all the competition.

I hope it does live up to the RA badge. Can't wait til the 8th.

Old school RA's were pretty stock like but stripped down. Then later they started getting bigger turbos, shorter gearing, DCCD, R180 rear ends, etc...then the GD chassis came along and the Spec C came about.
S20x models were a good bit different from the Spec C model which kept the stripped down model with forged pistons, shorter gearing, reduced weight (thinner glass), and some extra power.

We'll see what comes about.

It is nice thoug Subaru will finally bring more STI versions to their biggest market as promised two years ago. Hopefully they will bring a STI legacy and Forester too.
