1) Remind them to not drill holes in my front bumper for license plate
2) Ask them not to wash the car when it gets off the truck
3) No dealer's advertisement on my car
4) Look for unusualty every inch of the car! =D
5) Repeat Step 4
6) Repeat step 5

That should do it!!!

Joking aside is there a reason why I shouldn't let the dealer wash the car? My dealer told me they only use bristle brush and a mild soap that doesn't affect the paint or the clear coat according to them.
Becaue most dealerships have highschool kids or just dudes that don't give a **** about the cars and scratch them and spray tire shine all over the tires which then mist on the paint etc. it's just a big mess you don't wanna deal with. Just do everything yourself. So if a rare instance something happens your to blame

Lol I talked to my saleman today and asked him to not let them drill any hole into my bumper at all and ask them to not wash the car. He went out of his way and explained to me their place wash these cars really carefully with soft water, soft soap and wipe down with soft microfiber clothes. Now you reminded me I didn't ask him to tell them not to put tire shine on my tires but I'll just tell him altogether when my care is close.

We are almost done with it all now!

I was finally able to trade out my car and pick up my New FRS yesterday Dec 7, 2012.

My frist FRS was number 5,5XX and this one is 11,XXX so a bit strange that it is double what the previous was.

I put a fair amount of miles on the first FRS since purchasing it July 24, 2012.

Anyway here are pics of the new arrival.

Notice that was placed on the old car once the inspection was completed.

All that is left now, is for me to get the clear bra work done and send in for the reimbursement. The actual vehicle exchange process was very quick and easy (as far as the day of the transaction goes).

Sounds like Toyota is just going to resell your old one right off the bat.

Yeah, who knows? I think Impartial services puts that tag on them all regardless of where it is really going, but there is a phone number!

Not sure, as stated above, I would just call them. I have a few race teams that have already been asking me about the car as well. I took good care of it too. Took it in for service etc. Car is a good buy now.

Whew.....I just read the whole thread.

To the comments of, "The value of the car will drop due to CarFax", it was stated that, "The repairs will be done by the MFR, thus no record of it". I will say this means that CarFax won't have a record, thus no "value hit".
Sigh.

I don't feel the issue was a major one, but.......you bought a new car, it should be "perfect".

I wonder what "Butt kicking" went on in the factory to let something like this through the whole line. Must have been a "Monday" or "Friday" car. rolleyes

Glad you have a new car, a buddy of mine received the 1st new BRZ in CO earlier in the year.
Another buddy got one in TX.

Have fun with the new wheels.

It is pretty interesting that this made it out of the factory(if that is where it happened) but the Japanese don't operate like that. They don't point fingers. They expect fixes and the workers will do whatever it takes to fix the issue. Its a pride thing.

Yes, sorta my point.

I can't remember the title, but Michael Keaton did a movie about the "culture clash" between the US & Japan in the 80's (?).

Thus, my statement in my earlier post.

Sucks for the OP, glad it worked out seeing I've owned a Toyota (& and few Subaru's.)

Gung Ho.

Somebody should buy this at auction, take a pair of pliers, bend that little piece back and get a perfectly good car. What whiny little entitled bitch the OP is. I can't believe what this country has come to anymore.

There ya go!!

It was fun and sad at the same time. When people sak, "Why has the US fallen behind....." I point to a few issues. Unions can be one of them.

Lot's of humor, but I see the "Union reality" too often in the:

Metro NY area
Boston
Chicago

Outside of that, I can deal with them. Some are great peeps to deal with.

In the 3 listed, many are PITA's to deal with.

PS, yes, I have my Nomex on, so the union guys can flame my butt......

P, PS, my Legacy was assembled in the US, where was yours assembled??

By NON union workers. While taking a tour of the plant a few years back, we were told that the workers have received a raise every year since SIA opened. Over the past couple years, they have also been getting a good amount of overtime.

I gave them plenty of options other than replacing the car, they chose to replace it. I appreciate your deep insight into the matter though.

I can't believe how short sighted and rude YOU are.

It's his money, his car. When you buy a new car, don't you expect it to be perfect? Besides, he is letting Toyota/FHI know that something went wrong on the assembly line, saving the factory money and other future owners some heartache.

OP, glad you got this situation figured out.

This. Op you shoulda just take a pair of pliers to that brand new car you paid full price for to fix the defect, so unethical of you to return it to get what you actually paid for...

If we just accepted things the way they were given to us this country would have never been founded in the first place. This isn't a mom and pop shop, this is Toyota they can spare to give up an extra FRS for the one they messed up

well, I actually read through this (well most of it) this morning. That was quite the 6 month endeavor wasn't it. If I was in a similar situation and bought a brand new car and found damage before I even left the lot on delivery day I would have wanted the situation remedied as well. Lucky for the OP he was offered a new replacement. I think I would have taken that as well. It is good to see that a company that size still takes the time to ensure a customer is happy and taken care of.

OP enjoy the new car (another one ) and glad to see everything worked out well.

I appreciate the comments. I suppose a better way to look at this is for me to ask 69subaru360 to go pay 2012 MSRP on a 2011 used car, it is the same concept. I paid for a flawless new car and I paid the premium price they requested for that product. A customer has much more to lose in this situation than the manufacturer. This is their business, and I am the consumer. Toyota was very fair and respectful to me. They told me that had the car been fixed by them, the vehicle history report would have shown a that Toyota had funded a frame repair on the vehicle, so from the get go, the carfax would have had a smudge on it. How are you going to explain that information to a future potential purchaser of your now 5 year old car? This defect is so rare in any make or model, that no one will ever believe you that the car came that way from the manufacturer with 0 miles on the car.

I am happy with how this has turned out, and Toyota has done nothing but try and put a smile on my face. They are a good company, and I will buy from them again.

probably is, yeah.

I can't believe so many people have a hard time with the fact that the OP paid for a new car that is flawless, and wants it flawless. Why would he settle for less? It was the factory's fault, and it got by inspection to boot! This is a no brainer. I agree the problem looks somewhat petty overall- but that doesn't matter, it shouldn't be there.

Whiny little entitled bitch? Man, he is entitled for sure- to a new car without defects.

I shall sell you my Tacoma worth 15 grand for 28g and smile. That rusted bumper and frame is just a minor blemish. It'll buff out.

To the OP... good job on fighting for you hard earned money.
