Question Charging my Car

Need some sound advice.
At present my '99 Vette is sleeping in the garage with a trickle charger hooked up to it.
Could I put the Vette outside with the charger in the engine compartment and then cover the car???
I have 2 covers so it will be well protected but I'm worried that the charger needs to be in a better ventilated space.
The reason it's posted on i-club is because I want to work on my WRX. Please stay serious, I know the WRX is more important but I don't want to blow up my Vette.
Any suggestions or comments.

Thanks,
Joe

how long are you planning to keep it outside! cause if its a couple of days it wont kill the battery at all just start it up and let it run for a few min! if anything just take out the battery and keep it on the charger in the garage!

Joe,

How about hooking the trickle charger up to an extension cord from the garage? That is what I did last year on my Dad's '88 Fleetwood. The charger was still hooked up to the car under a California Car cover. It lasted that way for about 3 months.

Maybe the charger can rest under the cover?

Joe,
my father just leaves the battery disconnected in his '63 Stingray...he leaves it garaged, but like was said above, if you want to keep it on the trickle charge, just remove the battery and leave that indoors. Curious, I haven't seen the engine bays of the "newer" vettes, are the batteries a big pain to get at/remove like the older models?-Mike

i was just thinking...to remove the vette from the garage during winter for a subaru is sacrilege in my house
He might be bringing it out to a Red Rooster meet when it finally warms up, that car kicks arse! sorry about the irrelevant rambling

Mark,
That's what I'm talking about. Is there sufficient air flow and ventilation in the engine compartment under the hood and with a car cover over it to not ruin the charger (overheat) or the battrery due to a malfunction of the charger due to lack of ventilation?
Car will probably see daylight April./May

Darby,
The vettes have so much computer stuff that they monitor that I'm kind of afraid to take it out. Last time I had my battery replaced at the dealer it went into alarm mode and I couldn't start it. Had to have it flat bedded back to dealer and have all the settings reset.

Tell me when your Dad does and I'll run mine over there too.
