hi can someone help me here ? i dont know how i would go about connecting my igniter because i only have 5 points/cables on one side only ? as to Robs igniter diagram he has 5 cables going into 4 ? BUT i dont even have the other 4 ? there is a picture of my igniter please check it out .....

also i know how to hook up the new age coil on plug AKA COP/pigtail plug as Rob explained....but the 3 cables coming into a Pigtail plug, i dont know where to hook them up ? its like i need to connect 4 COP into what ?

this is because we are wasted spark. I dont remember 100% bc i did mine a while ago. but all you do is connect pin1 and pin6 together and pin2 and pin5 together and that will bypass the ignitor.

makipsee thanks for a super quick reply much love bro....i understand what your saying but when u say pin 6 ? im lost because i only have 5 pins in total ?
so witch one would pin 6 be on my igniter ?

No problem i know what its like waiting for help/answeres so if i know something i try to answer as soon as i can.

Although you only have 5 wires the connector can accept 6 wires so pin1 and pin6 would be the outer most wires.

i think ill just give up while im a head

..... was reading on Dwell timing and if its off a bit i can have a big mess.....but was reading some where else that all OEM Subarus should have the same Dwell ? and im completely lost now because i thought rob was doing a single coil pack to multi coil on plug conversion but he already had that old phase 1 multi coil on plug so i understand where his pigtail plug was connecting too but now if i was to do that where do i connect the pigtail plug ?

i have had this setup on my car for about 2 years with no issues. Yes pin1 would be the trigger from the ECU and you would connect that to pin6 which goes to the coil you would have to make a tee so that it goes to cylinders 1 and 2. Then connect pin2 to pin5 and again tee that and that would go to cylinders 3 and 4.

I found that tere was discusion about it in 2008

I just bought mine off of ebay. They run about $50 a set of 4 used out of an STI. I thought maybe I'd get a bad one, so I bought two sets. I still have 4 coils taking up space in my storage for the past 4 years or so...

Hey guys sorry for bribging this tread back to life but i do have a question about this..so I did this conversion to the core as written and followed all the steps..the car starts up fine but after it warms up and I blip the throttle it starts to misfire and idle very rough and low(like dropping below 500) almost like it runs on 3 cylinders..also I think it's running rich cause of the black smoke and smell of fuel. **note: I also did upgrade my fuelpump to a wallbro 255 and a earomotive adjustable FPR while doing this upgrade...Anyone also run into this issue?

Check for any vacuum leaks. Also is your FPR set right?

As per manual that I read somewhere with vacuum off it's 38-40ish and vacuum on 32-34ish..even if i raise the pressure same problem..yes checked for vacuum non whatsoever..i also pulled all my plugs and all of them are fouled black..reason I tried this upgrade is cause my old coilpacks where shot but the car was driveable

Yes man..didn't have this problem before..just after the upgrades and conversion this happened..followed the install to the bone..so don't know what and where it went wrong

Update: got it working guys , the problem were the coils. Altho bought new from ebay they were the cause of the whole problem. So i got myself a set of second hand OEM diamond coils and poof..problem went away. No more misfires. So people wanna do this conversion get some OEM coils to safe you from the problems i had. Allround the conversion is worth it.

hello!

pleae help me!
i have '93 legacy (this is now a 2.0 legacy turbo)
this have an old style metal ignitor (http://www.anythingelectronic.co.nz/...roducts_id=348)
i have also the wrx coil on plug with the matching connectors https://i356.photobucket.com/albums/...swr7d.jpg.html
the wires from the both side of ingnitor is connected correctly.
but when i turn the igniter to on.
it is allways 12v and! the ground in all the connecors of coils.
the 12v is in the connectors is ok but the ground not, when i thin correct the ground is controlled trough the ecu.
now all of the coil connecors have 12v and ground.
while cranking the engine then sometimes (i hope in the correct time) it is break.

what is wrong?

maybe i need to put a not logic gate in the system?
