Default Ver 8 in an rs?

Ive been doing research lately about doing a version 7/8 swap into an 98-01 rs. I have gotten install quotes and quotes for an entire v7 setup but im having trouble getting an accurate quote for a complete v8 swap, trans and all. Anyone know what the price difference between the two is?? And is the version 8 worth the extra money to do?? Thanks

I would say if you can find the cost of the parts for the swap, the labor and install costs would be the same...

Ver8 also has large port heads which are similar to the Ver7 Spec C/RA heads

Ver8 Spec C has VF36 (Titanium shaft/compressor wheel, ball bearing twinscroll turbo)

My Ver8 engine swap was ~6k total including shipping, all fluids - everything.

Transmission - ??? Haven't done it yet but should be cheaper to do both at once of course.

V8 motors seem to run 1200ish more than the V7 motors. FYI

How is your tranny holding up. Unfortunately I have the pleasure of having a 93 L wagon and I doubt the tranny will hold up so I'm stuck doing a FULL swap. Just curious

I recently cracked open a late 04 JDM V8 engine and compared it to a V7. Didn't get a chance to do a cc test on the combustion chamber but the ports were the same between both versions. But the cam lift on the V8 was significantly higher than the V7.

Yeah, that's definately not set in stone. I've heard of some V7 being big port and some not... who knows... crazy Subaru factories
