Default my day with racecomp engineering, a different kid of review of sorts

so with my sti out of comission from it's custom body work i contacted racecomp to see if they were displaying anything at the subaruchallenge with me driving the xb i could help out with hauling stuff up or bringing a table up from them. stuff worked out and i spend most of the day hanging out with drew and mike and i have to say i'm impressed.

the guys at racecomp don't just sling parts. (and that's not a dig at parts people i work doing parts in another aspect and that's what i do, move volumes of parts). but when it comes to something as specialized as a high performance suspension setup it's not just about selling the part and sending the customer off on their way. they understand suspension setup from spring rates, damping, rebound, camber and caster and when they saw a customers car where the settings didn't seem optimal they made an effort to find the customer see where their settings were and if possible make adjustments to optimize the settings.

their eagerness to discuss and help customers with setup was very impressive they really wanted to see everyone getting the most out of their suspension setups. their personal assistance extended to levels that when they saw a car with one of their suspension setups and didn't reconize the owners face or car they were surprised. I jokingly explained that will happen when word gets out and you move enough product, you want to be able to be hands on with every customer but some will choose to take the product and go, you have to hope they figure optimum settings or contact you for further assistance on setup if they don't

now the venue of of the subaru challenge was great for them to be able to view and diagnoise setup on cars to be able to suggest proper adjustments to be made. it definitely makes things easier then hopping on the phone and explaining (or trying to) where your settings are and what you would like to try to correct settings wise. but if you have a suspension through racecomp and would like to optimize your settings and become a better driver, Myles does offer personalized driving instruction, actually you don't even need one of their suspension setups to take advantage of such instruction. But I'm sure that if you do part of it will be adjusting the suspension settings to make sure your driving is getting the most out of your car.

simply put there is no other place in the region that works as hard and is as serious about proper suspension setup then racecomp.
for autocrossers the equation is simple, contact them about what suspension fits your needs and works for your class (from stock to SM or SP) get it properly set up, alligned, run V710's or hoosiers if you're in an R compound class ( 01R's or advans in ST class) and just don't screw up your power delivery with whatever engine mods you do...
