Not really true at all. Not even close. There's a good bit of Asians in patapsco, in fact the guy in our group that is hands down the most into it is Korean. He just built yet another bike.

He's calling me round eye because he is a slant eye, my wife is Asian and nether myself or her took any offense to the comment. I find it more offensive that he makes it out as if Asians don't do anything physical and that it's a western thing.

My wife lifts weights, Olympic plates, not pink dumbbells, she likes to do 5 mile runs, she likes to hike, and do all kinds of stuff. What's ironic is she was born in Asia. I believe Davc was born here. She works out, he eats rice.

I'm one of the few white guys in our group of riders, we have people from all over the world that ride in our group, and we are all racist pricks with each other, I wouldn't want it any other way.

lol someone got butt hurt over nothing. jeff this is how we get along. you make slant eye facial gestures at me and I call you round eye. its how we roll. you are round eye and like rice and roast pig from the azn market. most round eye would look at you as if you're confused etc.

btw, rice is delicious but I can't eat too much of it, especially white rice.

You don't need to hit any jumps, in fact there's no jumps I can think of at Patapsco other than some small drop offs.

Main thing that gets you is riding uphill. Sure you might fall off your bike riding down hill but rarely do you puke unless going up hill.

Awesome workout.

Is that supposed to be difficult?

Looks like fun. Will have to make it up to Potapsco sometime this year.

Very much so, you can never get a sense of hills/drops in videos. The angle is really steep and the bridge is not level at all. I didn't even try to walk across it with my DC shoes. I picked the bike up and over each tree. Even than, the trees are higher than the top of the seat. Super hard to get a sense of it without being there.

I thought he was crazy for doing it and can't beleave he didn't get hurt in the process.

Hit Schaeffer on Saturday, Fountainhead and Meadowood with Mav1c on Monday.

Schaeffer is overgrown in a lot of places. The crops in the fields are almost up to the level of my bars on my 26" bike. Lots of pricker bushes encroaching on the trail, lots of green growing in places, but overall the trails were still ridable. The only places you'll need to worry about are Blue and Yellow, where the track starts to enter the fields. The grass is very high.

Fountainhead, while greeted by at least 6 pieces of local FD aparatus, was great. A little bit of loose stuff on the top, but all in all, well packed berms and trails. Only downside was the weird drone of cicadas.

Meadowood was quick, but quite enjoyable. Not a very long ride (3.some-odd miles), but the work they are doing for the pump track and other trail looks substantial. Hopefully I can get down there for a work weekend and get some volunteer time in. Mav1c lead on this one, which I'm not complaining about, as I managed a good time down one hill, and overall, not a bad time around the entire loop. I wouldn't have gone nearly as fast on the downhill if I didn't have the advanced notice of turns/jumps/obstacles that he gave me.

Great weekend of biking. Now, for the heat to set in and really dry the trails out. Not to mention (4) sets of double headers for softball in the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I can get some time/miles in over the weekend.

Yeah. Good riding yesterday. I thought I was better, but after riding with AJ yesterday I realize I'm still in horrible shape. AJ would go blazing past me on the climbs and by the time I caught up it took me a minute or two to catch my breath. Just need to ride more!

And yet, your times weren't that far off from when you previously did Fountainhead. Not to mention the 4th fastest on the downhill at Meadowood, sub 3 minutes. I was feeling good, too, so that played a part in to how well I tackled the hills.

I have yet to ride there. A weekend ride/meet-up would be awesome.

Let's make it happen. The drop in at park and ride has lots of parking as with the college.

Try to find one you can borrow or rent one. Most shops will rent a bike to you for the day or the weekend, if you buy a bike from them they give you a discount of the rental price on the bike.

You'll also need.

Correct fitting helmet
Some type of water system like a camelbak.

I normally wear helmet, gloves, knee pads, flat shoes like DC Shoes and a camelbak.

Make sure you do some running leading up to the first ride, or push yourself around your neighborhood on a bike. Nothing sucks worse then having a group ride when a person has to stop every 1500 feet or walks half the ride.

It's one hell of a workout, that's half the fun!

Have you ever done any mountain biking? If not, Potapsco may not be the best place to start. There are other trails in the area better suited for a beginner.

I've been contemplating on what bike to get guys. I have been out of the mountain biking scene for a couple years because someone stole my Giant XTC 2 out of my garage. Fully clip ons and everything. They left my shoes though.... ?

What do you guys think about the Novara brand within REI? I was looking at their Ponderosa model and their new Intrepid. The Intrepid is a steel frame with some great components. Same as the Ponderosa although that is a Aluminum. I hope to ride with you all soon. I'm definitely down!

Got on my bike yesterday for the first time this year, and rode around the neighborhood. Hope to see you all on the trails here soon.

Doesn't matter what we think of it, get your butt on it for a test ride, if REI doesn't offer test rides I'd pass and check out your local bike dealer that does offer test rides.

My friend has a 2012 trek cobia for sale, around 100 miles on it, I believe it's a small frame 15.5

Selling due to injury.
