Your first generation legacy identifications are slightly inaccurate

I've had 4 Subarus and tried to put the right codes to all of them but I keep getting confused with goes with which. So here are the models I've had and what I think are the right codes for them.
1) 03 wrx Sedan. 2) 06 wrx Sedan. 3) 08 wrx. 4) 08 Legacy GT. All are turbo. So am I right to think that they are all EJ20T except the LGT and chassis code are; 1) GDA-D. 2) GDA_F. 3) GRB or GH...? and 4) BPL....? |

You have a GDF. Here is what they look at in Japan (where all the model code talk came from):
They don't have a VIN here like you do in the US, so that isn't looked at when identifying your vehicle. You get it from the 'applied model code'. |

The 2 liter WRX uses a 1.1 geared center diff, so the front diff is 3.9, and the rear diff is 3.545. This is all for the 5 speed (WRX, 6 speed STi), I'm not completely positive about the 4EAT, I believe they came with 4.111 final drive. Edit: It appears that they changed the WRX 5 speed back to a 3.9 in either 2008 or 2009. I don't know what they did with the rear diff, looking into it now. There was also an MPFI EA82 non-turbo(some XT-4's had them). It came with the spider intake manifold.
I also know there was a EA82 wagon with a raised roof. Touring wagon I believe. I have ever only seen 2. I think that might be the rarest wagon in the US. Someone mentioned about the 2.7l not fitting an ej trans. That is because the 2.7l H6 was based off of the EA series engine, not the EJ. Also dont forget the Justy. |
