Back on topic, my friend put on 350kms at Calabogie race track in his 3 week old 09 STI on the weekend and had no problems with it. C diff set to auto. Thing worked like a charm. Swapped spots for five, 5.1km laps with an SC Elise. Only issue he had were the brakes fading at the end of the day.

Why? Why not just unsubscribe and stop reading?

A couple people shouldn't ruin it for everyone.

See at least someone wants it around.
This mapleleaf guy really loves to ruin it for everyone.

I agree with Pilot to let it live...

I was only quoting what mapleleaf said because he likes to contradict himself alot

I would be pissed too, if I owned a 08/09 STi

<trying to keep the thread alive by stiring the pot>

That being said, 2008 STI @0%a.p.r. and heavily now discounted seems like a GREAT deal.

being 1100 miles in on my new 08 sti I can't believe the lack of perspective i'm reading here. I had the first US WRX wagon and had to sell it a few years ago. Getting in to the 08 sti wagon has been a religious experience for me. It is an awesome car for the money. It's like my old WRX on steroids. Yes, smoothed out for American driving tastes and thus a little softer. Also i'm prob older than most of you guys and the new design is way less boy-racer and thus I don't feel like a chooch doing daily driving.

A lot of them don't understand that some of us were buying 2.5RS's and 02 Bugeyes when we were in our twenties and a lot of us have grown up.
My 09 is hands down the best WRX/STI I have ever driven or owned.
It's the whole package that has matured with a large part of it's demographic.
The quality has improved leaps and bounds.

the new wrx is a joke......its $31k+ for a wrx , not to mention it is ridiculously ugly.....I'm not the biggest fan of the 08 sti, I believe its so so....im sure it'll grow on me....but in my opinion why change a perfectly good design? or "If it isn't broke, don't fix it" what is Subaru thinking??? C'mon guys......they have that pink badge for a reason.....

$31k?!? That's loaded beyond max. I priced the sedan I want on Subaru.com for $26,140 with dimming mirror and fogs including destination.

haha I gave up trying to understand where people get their numbers a few weeks ago.

I was able to price a WRX premium 5dr at over 30k MSRP with just the Nav package. But thats to be expected. OTD would probably be closer to 27k-29k...

I included every option that I could think of wanting in my 5dr and easily got over 30k 26k for the base model sure...

Yup, just like someone paying more than 36k OTD for an STI is stupid. You never "had" to but some people did and didn't care to try harder.

I believe someone said the base STI has 17" rims, well earlier into the post, I just wanted to clarify that the base rims are 18".

Also, two months after the review, I have bought my base '08 STI for $32k OTD with the 63 months of 0% financing. I have looked at the G37 sedan, Audi A4, BMW 335, and Mercedes C class. There is no better deal than an '08 STI for me and my driving personality. I feel at home in a Subaru, after all, this is my 3rd one ('04 WRX, '04 STi).

I personally like the changes made to the STI, although it took me a while to grow into the hatch design. The taillight mod does wonders. I sold my '04 STi because I couldn't stand it's lack of daily drivability. I was about to order an '09 WRX sedan but after taking a ride in the '08 STI and figuring out the math, it was a clear choice to get the STI. I love driving it on a daily basis, which I can't say about my '04 STi. However, I do feel a bit of understeer relative to the '04, but I haven't driven the car much with VDC turned off.

Sport # with Auto Diff- and no VDC, no more understeer than the previous models.
Sways and/or camber plates and the car is a weapon.
EDM cars get 17inch base wheels.
