Do you have chrome faded trim?
So I picked up this 04 wrx for a really good deal about a month ago. One thing that kept bugging me was this:
The black trim on both sides of the car had faded to reveal a horrible chrome piece of plastic. All you need is a can of SEM trim paint: I used 1000 grit sandpaper since it is such a smooth surface and a phillips head screwdriver. You can remove these pieces. They are held in with 4 screws under the rubber molding. The worst part is breaking them off from the upper trim piece. I think they were just glued together. These looked horrible on the car! Anyways get to sanding and cleaning and you are ready to start painting. Lay down a light coat first to give the later coats something more to grab onto. I had some issues with cloudiness because a satin black over smooth plastic shows all of your imperfections. I heated them up with the wife's hairdryer before I laid the last coats. I think the heat helped it to lay more evenly. Who knows. I had to use a ton of coats to get it how I wanted it. Going back to sand out imperfections and trying to fix the cloudiness. At last this is how they came out: Now... lets see how long they last! Haha |
