I am the fourth owner of this car, have owned it for about a year and a half and added about 17k miles. It has never been modified or tuned, but myself and the previous owner have done some maintenance on the car to replace worn parts and keep it running well. Mechanically the car is quite sound. I never had any engine problems and it shifts just fine with no grinding or popping out of gear. The car does burn oil, roughly a quart every other tank of gas, and the shifter is a little loose. Nothing out of the ordinary for this high mileage. The check engine light is on, I had it checked and it’s a evap leak, fixes on those can get pricey so it wasn’t a priority for me. ABS light is also on, happened after the previous owner did some suspension maintenance and probably tugged a wire in the process. ABS still works fine, I had it happen a few times in snow. The A/c belt needs replaced, I have one, but have been too busy to install it.

The inside of the car is in really good shape for its age with no tears or stains and minimal noticeable wear. One of the front Subaru rubber mats went missing at some point before I acquired the car so it has weathertechs up front and Subaru rear and trunk mats. The CD changer doesn’t work, but every other aspect of the radio does (I always used the AUX jack). From the inside, this does not seem like a car with over 220k miles.

The exterior of the car does show its age. The paint is far from perfect, it has scratches, a few chips and Subaru’s signature rust at the rear quarter panels. There is a scuff on the passenger side of the rear bumper that the car came with. More recently, a someone at work swiped me on the rear driver’s side, but did not leave insurance information. The headlights had gotten pretty foggy so I replaced them with Depo sport trim units.

More than happy to answer any questions or provide phone number via PM. I do have a small journal on SF.org showing a few of the things I did to the car https://www.subaruforester.org/threa...ed-fxt.784099/

Maintenance by previous owner, had about 200 miles on them when I purchased:
-water pump
-all tensioners and pulleys
-AC and power steering belts
-new alternator
-coolant flush
-Cooper CS5 Ultra touring tires
-New Subaru OEM ball joints on both sides
-New KYB Excel-G struts
-New Swift sport springs, foz specific with 1.5" drop
-STi Group N strut mounts front and rear
-New front sway bar end links
-mudflaps
-new wipers front and rear

Maintenance by me:
-New oil cooler gaskets
-Blacked out sport headlights
-remanufactured front calipers
-stoptech sport front pads
-centric blank front rotors
-ATE Type200 fluid
-Whiteline front and rear shifter bushings
-new clutch fluid and bleed
-transmission fluid replaced with Redline Lightweight Shockproof

Judging by the rust on the exterior, I would guess the fuel lines don't look great, or the canister. How does it look underneath, especially the break lines?

I haven't specifically looked at fuel or brake lines, but from memory the subframes looked average for a twelve year old car. If you're interested I might be able to get under the car in the next few days and get back to you
