Yea tell me about it. It really sucks to be one of the ones that have this issue. I went through all the same checks and re-checks that others on NASIOC have done. Still to no avail, guess I have just learned to live with it for now. I am 110% positive that once these are replaced with another strut the noise will "disappear".

Yes I did. I was more than pleased with who I purchased them through. The actual product not so much.

Tokico is the poster child for unresponsive aftermarket manufacturers, especially in terms of customer service. It sucks but that is just how they are. I am not left with many feasible options other than Feal tuned STi struts or going the coilover route.
Getting back on track, I had some wheel bearing repairs to try and get a tire wear problem under control.

I spent stupid amounts of time tracking down an elusive dash rattle originating from the RHS. It has been increasing in it's intensity and driving me literally insane. Seriously it is pretty bad. Dummy me. Dummy me. That new Ipass transponder that they made me trade in for is the source. The noise bounces off the windshield then moves around the dash area. I worked on piecing together some resemblance of a dash. I also added some leftover BXII and Ensolite on some of the plastic panels to solid things up a bit and see if it reduces any subtle road noises.
**IL Toll Authority can eat a bag of richards**

I finally stopped procrastinating on getting my windows tinted. Nino at Umbra placed 35% on all 5 windows quickly, affordable, and perfectly. I will never do this job DIY again since it was a much better use of my money -vs- time to have him do it. I had the rear deck and all the door panels removed to ease the install. I will probably get some MLV installed before putting all of these back into place. I have been wanting to reduce some of the road noise for awhile now.
(needs some photos I know)

I acquired a set of those 2011 WRX Premium wheels. After removing the TPMS sensors and shipping those back to the original owner I got regular rubber valves installed then re-balanced. Before buying these I worked the dimensions and compared to my MT1's and figured that the inner wheel lip would be at the same location relative the strut tube (close) but the outer wheel lip would be tucked inboard about 3/8" more that the MT1's. No spacer was needed. These WILL NOT fit if you have Brembos installed up front. I think they look pretty good and on a quick glance appear to be the MT1's. Hoping that these will further tone down appearance of the car since they are OEM wheels. The tires on the other hand are great in the dry....and TERRIBLE in the slick. It is a good thing the original owner got out of these and into proper winter tires. Just how I prefer it, nice and un-noticable........

The early 2004 6MT was pulled and sold to a friend. There were no issues and it operated just fine but a late 2004 6MT was bought to go in for some "fun" upgrades. There were some upgrades that I have been eyeing for awhile and a bonus check pushed me over the edge to get it done. The 5MT was just sitting around so back in it went. Bye bye fat boy, see you soon.

I finished up my headunit install by replacing my unused ashtray with a Subaru AUX panel from a 2007 WRX. I was going to remove the harness pins from the connector and graft an alternate 3.5mm lead to hook to my headunit. To save time I cut the harness connector off and just grafted in what I needed. One sacrificial AUX cable, sized to length, then excess was cut off. Leaves you with Red/Green/Blue. (Red = left / Green = right / Blue = ground)

The AUX panel harness actually has 5 circuits in it, but I only needed the three main ones. The others are for enabling AUX if a plug is present.
1)Graft the Red AUX cable to the White AUX panel
2)Graft the Green AUX cable to the Red AUX panel
3)Graft the Blue AUX cable to the Black/bare AUX panel
4)shrink wrap and affix to protect the connections.

Works great, now I have Pandora and my phone stored music at my disposal. I should have worked in some sort of disconnect near the AUX panel. If I need to pull the shifter trim I have to get behind the radio to disconnect the AUX cable. I see a re-work in my future. *Looks like having a vacuum at my disposal would be a good move as well?

While I already had the head unit pulled, I always wanted to know if the 05+ brackets were different than the prior years. Yep, it looks like the lower mounting tab is further back and the hole patterns are different. Satisfy that curiosity.

Now I want to fix the dumb door chirp module. Will probably relocate the chirp module away from the front of the radiator. Probably extend the harness and leave in the engine bay somewhere. Also since it was winter time, I wanted to give my neglected paint some TLC. I washed it twice and followed up with a clay bar. After that I bought myself a nice GG orbital polisher and some 5.5" pads. I started with compound then polish which yielded some great results. When I put on the Collinite 845, I about crapped myself. This was long overdue, car is happy. That should about do it for this year. The rest of the winter will be parts collecting and some prep for next spring.

The 6MT came back from its gear ratio R&R. I spend a tremendous amount of time researching and planning for this upgrade. Fingers crossed for a worthwhile venture since I was unable to find someone in my area with the same setup to test out. Before re-installation I had to replace the transmission harness since I crushed a few of the circuits. This pesky DCCD pass through makes it a bit more involved.

Out with the damaged and in with a new 24031AA441 harness. My fuji bond tube was cured up so instead of dropping $35 on another tube I decided to give the $10 tube of 3M Ultrabond a try from NAPA. Cured and currently waiting for some available time to go back into the car. If you try removing this pass through without opening the tailhousing, you will have a few plastic floaters to contend with.

This counter top must be from the 70's? Gold flake yea.

Yes, this 6MT is waiting to be returned to it's home with all new syncro/baulks, 2007 STi 2/3/4 and Leggy SpecB 5/6. Pretty.

I just need time to pull the 5MT, get this 6MT in, and test it out. I have had some distractions that have delayed this project longer than I hoped. Since my daily driver took a crap, it has to be repaired first. Hoping to get this installed before August and get some drive time with it. I have a slew of other parts that I have been collecting and waiting to install after this is trans in. Things move so slowly now that I feel old anymore .
I was not happy with the hacked up trans harness I used before. I am taking the new 24031AA441 harness and replacing the 6pin connector with the 4pin connector from the WRX harness. Easy connections and factory look.

This year is going to be really busy with baby #1 on the way and the things I want to get accomplished on the WRX. I am so close to getting the trans back in I can taste it, just have to paint a baby room first. A front brake issue is developing that will likely result in new rotors and a caliper rebuild.
In anticipation of a SMY bezel arriving in a few weeks, I am planning to get an Engine Oil Pressure (EOP) meter to fill in that leftover location. My must haves are read with imperial units, 52mm, and black faced. Keep in mind that I am very pleased with my older Defi Link 52mm boost meter that reads imperial units. Unfortunately Defi (Nippon Seki) eventually discontinued that meter line making it nihil to find a matching EOP meter. I tried looking for awhile but if you can even find one who knows what shape it's really in. Defi's CR line is pretty close to what I have now except not offered in imperial units. I am picky. It's not like I am in a hurry but it still sucks to get hung up on a trivial thing like this.
I think function may overrun pretty in this case. I would like to regain the space in my center console that the Defi control unit takes up. I need more space to hide my crap.

Link: This looks just right in the WRX with green illumination, just enough silver trim to match dash cluster, smooth lens profile, and red pointer.

Racer: This would look just right except the f-ugly trim ring, if you remove the ring there is silver trim but the lens has an wierd ridge profile, no WARN feature, the EOP meter is WAY overpriced, red pointer, and the face goes dark when off.

Pro-Control: The black trim does not look as nice as the Defi, the face is kind of uninspiring, the lens has an outdated looking inset, cannot get the red needle with white illumination combo, it does include WARN and control outputs, the price I can get these at is similar or lower then the Defi Racers. Considering that Autometer bought STACK in 2007, I wonder how much technology integration is in these. That point alone could be a clincher.

I forgot the hate/love relationship I have with 6MTs. At least I can test drive it fairly soon and see how I like the ACT's STI clutch over the OEM STi clutch I had prior. A bit too much clutch for the torque I have now, but should work well once the other parts are installed. I am pretty happy since I may have found an EOP Link meter, but paid an embarrassing amount for it.
The pile of parts I have been collecting:
GpN engine mounts
GpN comp trans mount
new Q-Rack steering rack
used PS cooler

Thank you Sir.
The trans is fine but a broken bolt is holding me up. The Defi EOP meter arrived in great shape but missing the link cable. I will use the one leftover from the boost meter. Also found a few other parts that I have been looking for, they should help out on later projects. So besides missing the beautiful Midwest weather driving, I am still happy. It is crazy hot anyways.
Once the 6MT is finished and tested I plan to switch out the Centric Posi-Quiets to see if the Stoptech Street Performance pads operate better. New front rotors as well. I know others report good results with these pads but I have had constant corrosion imprint problems with them. I have properly bedded, re-bedded, sanded, and re-cut rotors with no improvement. In fact I have never had such a re-occurring shutter with any other brake pads in my life. I have a feeling that the ST and Centric pads are mistakenly talked about interchangeably regardless of the different material properties. If the ST pads work out then the rears will be soon to go as well. I like Bobcats but trying my best to avoid Bobcat pricing. Then the new steering rack goes in, followed up with an alignment.
That might be all I can squeeze in this season.
As long as I had the exhaust manifold down I planned to install the groupN engine mounts and the Killer B parts I had stashed away. Engine mounts were easily done since I had plenty of room. On to tearing that oil pan off next.

Bummer. Found an unwelcomed guest inside my oil pan. One of the mounting tabs for the inner pan baffle broke off and was floating around in there. At least it was larger than the pickup screen but still not something anyone likes to find.
This pan isn't going on there again and not sure how I feel about replacing with the same exact designed oil pan.
Now I am held up in order to find a suitable replacement pan.

KillerB baffle was installed but I did not agree with the contact it made with a portion of the block. I just envision that generating debris into the lubrication system.

Some quick work with the bench grinder and a file and back in it went. I am waiting on the oil pickup since I will need to install it with a spacer kit. There was no damage found to the original pickup.

New oil pan solution found and ordered but a short wait until it gets here. Oh well at least I have no need to upgrade from a Killer B pan plus I get some additional oil sump volume. Also picked up a magnetic plug to help catch ferrous debris since I need a 1/2npt plug anyways. I will transfer my Fumoto valve over from the original pan. So I am kind of stuck in getting the engine bolted back down and the rest of the front end put together. Other than that I removed the Subaru EOP switch and installed the Defi EOP sender. Just figuring out how I want to route the harness.

Moved on to other parts that I had sitting around awhile waiting for install. One of them being the rest of my TiC holy shift kit. Their shift linkage bushings are proving to be a PITA since they lock up the linkage once the torque spec is applied. I emailed them and will try some of their recommendations.

Screw it. One thing I have learned is when it doesn't feel right don't use it. That TiC shift linkage bushing kit just got ripped out for the original OEM bushings. After messing with it for longer than I should need to, the original parts feel good and operate as they should. Perhaps I will retry these fancy bushings later but I doubt it. These might work well for others but they are apparently not for me. Sadly this was the first TiC product I have been unhappy with.
Drive shaft is up. Should have the rest of the car together sans the oil pan by the end of the weekend.

End of weekend, or so I thought. This might just take a bit longer than expected. Got to love those unexpected issues like a damaged front diff. I knew that this particular 6MT came from a car with front end damage since the new clutch housing was installed. I suppose the RHS axle must have been pulled from the diff splines but not the rest of the way out of the diff bore. The axle must have been spinning and damaged the inside of the diff.
There is no time to see if this diff can be repaired. I already have a new front diff and the install parts are on the way. I was very lucky on the new front diff, kind of the right place and the right time sort of thing. Sadly the money I squirreled away for a proper rear LSD was used up for this front diff. It may be for the best since quality LSD info is lacking here. The relative few that really know what they are talking about do not say much and then that leaves those who regurgitate utter crap.

Some concern. I have done differential setting on other transmissions but not yet in a Subaru 6MT. It offers some interesting challenges due to the diff being encased during the measurements. At least the 5MT is done with the case open and the weighted tool. Not sure I put a load on the diff while checking the pattern. As usual when I need help and post a (question), it's an 'effing ghost town. Honestly this raises some questions about this place. Sharing info is much less fun when it is not reciprocated.

No oil pan yet but it should arrive soon. Plan on getting the oil pan installed before I pull the 6MT back out. Just need to clear the work bench and borrow the right type of dial indicator and I should be back on track. Parts for install this winter are starting to show up but honestly I would be happy having the WRX able to drive again. In the meantime, I remounted the Defi control unit to the glove box. I like this location significantly better than the center console. While I am rerouting the Defi harnesses I am going to look into correcting two irks.
1) I need build a dimmer fix circuit so the meters will dim along with the dash cluster. Not a big irk but it is a cheap and easy fix.
2) I want to move the Defi's switch power from an ACC to an IGN circuit. I hope that will rid me of the double sweep and the new EOP will not alarm every time the car is KOEO. Although I will not get a visual check of -zero- boost anymore. **This did not cure the double sweep.**
