Default 92 Legacy LS Inquiry - Canada

Hey guys and gals! I am looking to pickup a 1992 Subaru Legacy LS Sedan AWD in Canada with a 4EAT transmission. I have some questions to ask, as it will be my winter car. My main car is a 2015 Subaru WRX.

That being said, here are the questions:

1) What is the final drive of the 4EAT transmission?

2) How reliable is the EJ22 SOHC? Any known issues such as head gaskets, etc.

3) Overall curb weight

4) Does it come with factory UEL or ELH header?

5) Does the 4EAT have LSD?

Any other useful information will be great. Thanks

Are there any current owners out there?

Hey there. Nice find! I guess Googling the needed information was a challenge?
1. Final Drive? Final drive is usually the ratio in a differential. I can give you the gear ratios. 1st 2.785 2nd 1.545 3rd 1.000 4th 0.694 Rev 2.272. Final drive 4.11
2. Arguably the most reliable motor built by Subaru. Head gaskets are still a thing with them, but the best thing to do is yard the motor out and do the head gaskets, new timing belt/tensioner/pulleys and reseal the valve covers.
3. Curb weight is roughly 3200lbs
4. They're basically UEL, but nearly EL.
5. Only turbo models did.

Keep up on the basic maintenance and she'll probably outlast your 2015. I own a 1997 Legacy with the 5MT and EJ22. They're a lot of fun to drive. I would strongly consider doing a stage 0 on it(Complete tune-up, replace all fluids, complete chassis/suspension/brake inspection, replace as needed).
