Default Can an OBD-II scanner reset the ECU?

Do any of the aftermarket OBD-II scanners allow you to reset the ECU, or can you just read and clear codes? I'd really like a better way to clear the ECU than just disconnecting the battery...

Thanks,
JulianH

Unbolt the cover for the ECU under the passenger side floormat. Pull the 3 plugs from the ECU and leave them out for about 10 minutes.

It will leave your ECU as naked as the day it was born, and you get to keep your radio presets!

Resetting those takes longer than bolting down the plate again!

i'm not sure on this but there is a constant power supply going to the ecu and it can't be too good for it if you unplug the harness with out unhooking the battery first.

There should be no problem with disconnecting the ECU at the connector, as long as the ignition switch is OFF. Just don't do it when the main relays are on and the ECU is driving big loads. Common sense.

I like this method because I get to keep my radio presets, and the alarm (remote door locks) still works.
