Default Brake Light Is ON

My Brake light in my gauge cluster is on constantly from the ebrake and i checked the fluid and its right near max.

the brakes stop really well but start to engage at about 60% down. not sure if that is normal on older cars?

I'm thinking its the e brake indicator wire or sensor that is stuck.

If anyone know what it could be or what i should check that would be great, Thank you!!

This sounds similar to my issue. I have a 95 L my problem was a while back my brake lights were not coming on nor did i see it on the gauge cluster. I found the problem and it was the fuse. So you could try checking the fuse box for either the brakes or the gauge.

I have a new issue that has evolved over time through phases and it is relevant Frogsthatmoo question. after fixing that problem i had to physically play with my fuse to even put the car in gear. This kept my brake lights and corner light in front on during the day as well as night all the time. During thanksgiving i was able to make it work normal again but now the brake lights stay on as if i was on the brake non-stop. It is really dangerous and i am afraid someone will soon rear end me not paying attention.

If anyone knows of a solution please reply.
Thank You!

I just looked at the master and when I took the cover off there was a rubber black thing all messed up so I unfolded it and places it back inside the groves where its from put brake fluid in and light turned off!

maybe that fixed it, if not ill take it to subi it needs an oil change and they said they do a 25pnt inspection free with n oil change.

I'm having this same problem on my 05. Its not the brake lever and the brake fluid level is in between the min and max lines. Will filling brake fluid to max fix this? I need to do my brakes soon, could this be a wear sensor perhaps?

Check your brake switch (on the pedal assembly). Sounds like it's broken.
