Lol its not that bad...it stays in boost if your shifting at redline. And i averaged 28 mpg on a trip to port aransas. No boost low rpms = less fuel consumption just puttin around town. Also like i said it is a godspeed and a fmic i think full boost would be expected late with that combo...lol

Decided to go 19t td04. And external waste gate. Keeping a more realistic hp goal of 300 whp and have incredible spool. In the processes of contacting blouch..

Did you check out the 19t thread? Seems like they are seeing results similar to a small 16g. It'll prolly be easy just to get a 16g, plus you could get more power out if it.

The 19t is supposed to spool a descent amount quicker. And for a daily. I think 300 is decent. I re evaluated my goals... Plans to get an fd rx7 next summer. So the wrx will be my beater

I'm a little disappointed in my protuned VF34. It has a torque curve from the low end that matches what my TD04 was putting out. According to my dyno runs at least. It works great as a DD since power in the low end is basically the same though with just a little more up top. I don't think I would consider going smaller than a 16g if I did it again... PERIOD. 16g XTR (38lbs/min) will be the next turbo for sure. Another 100cfm over the VF34 and about 160cfm over the TD04.

I just tried a td04hl-19t on a stock engine and was very disappointed. It made 220whp with meth. two weeks was all I could take. I am breaking in my new stroker on my vf48 but I went with a tomei 7760 (20g). Ill be happy to sell you the tdo4hl-19t. Meth isn't bad ether I just fill it every 300-400 miles.

Wat?
Are you reading the same 19t thread as we are? The percentage of "people who tried one" to "turbo failed" is higher with the 19t than any turbo I've read about on any forum anywhere. Some of the initial posts look promising, but there was a huge percentage of infant mortality issues in that thread. Last edited by Concillian; 11-08-2012 at 03:13 PM. |

I dunno, and I don't really care anymore. I was watching and participating in that thread quite a bit a few years ago. Eventually it became obvious that most of the people who tried it got burned.
Not all... some of them worked for a while, but it wasn't something I wanted to risk. I've gone a different route to keep low end reasonable with a bigger turbo (EJ207 for AVCS and a Borg EFR6758 are going in late December / Early Jan,) so it doesn't really matter to me anymore, I've made my decision. |

Look at the 16g-XTR. It is a ball bearing turbo unlike the previous 16g's blouch made. I actually just purchased one, but i need funds for a tune and injectors still

OP, if your worried about the motor just get the 16g. you can run them at 20+ psi all day long, its not like IHI. You dont want to throw on a 20g because itll be laggy and, in an effort to keep the tune "safe", you'll probably end up in the lower whp range for that turbo anyway |
