Default 2012 Impreza Sport Mode

Does anyone know how to engage sport mode on the 2012 impreza? I have the 2.0i premium model, and when I turn my key, it definately shows 'SPORT' on the display in my dash, but I have no idea how to engage it and the owners manual doesnt seem to want to tell me either...

believe that is simply a non-US capability not in the cars if you are stateside.....meaning that the light isnt active in US models.......it does light up on start up but nothing else....

From what I infer from this review, sport mode is simply manual/using the paddle shifters.

Odd to see this lit up. When I shift to manual mode, I don't think the SPort light illuminates.

I don't see it light up when I shift into manual either. I find it strange that it's in the dash if we can't engage it.

Acccording to this webpage:

Legacy 2.5GT / Outback 3.6R / WRX STI, Have a sport mode. Not sure if this particular feature is available in the US. It's probably the case of a component that's used in multiple vehicle styles.

I asked the same question. The gauge cluster is shared with the newer foresters with the FB (?) 2.5l and the sport light is for that transmission (4AT).

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2320551

Never answered on there, but check out the Subaru website and look at the optional forester gauges.

im assuming its just leftover from using the same display in multiple cars. Mine has the S# that never lights up but you can see the dot matrix for it, so i'm assuming the STI uses the same display and it just lights up as necessary.

Speaking of leftover dash lights, I saw "AT OIL TEMP" on my dash and wondered why in the world there would be a warning light for when the oil is at an operational temperature so I checked the book (its actually the CVT overheating), they really should have that as "TRANS OIL TEMP" or something a little more obvious.

Well doesn't AT = auto transmission?

I was wondering this too. I have been thinking about talking to a subaru tech about it.

It's in the TCM (Transmission Control Module)
