New Impreza WRX STI Sedan and Impreza XV in Japan by June
POSTED BY VINCENT VAN ON MAY - 28 - 2010

Subaru has confirmed that the new Impreza WRX STI sedan and Impreza XV cars will go on sale in Japan by this June. Both cars were debuted separately at the Geneva Motor Show in March and at the New York Auto Show in April.

It is likely that the WRX STI sedan will use the same 2.5-liter turbocharged boxer engine with output of 265 horsepower. And the Impreza XV will likely get either a 2.0-liter turbocharged boxer or a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel boxer engine. The gas engine is available with either a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic transmission.

Stay tuned…we’ll keep you posted of coming up details.
Here is a video trailer on the XV.

Think I am going to pick up an 11' STi. Wondering when the U.S. market cars going to be coming in? Me thinks September.

Does anyone know if they will be offering the option of getting a sti hatch in japan? Or perhaps they will only be selling the new sedan form?

Man, September seems so far away considering that most dealers are very low on stock already. I'm hoping July time frame?

11 feet? Sounds like a boat. I'd guess a little later than Sept...

They have been low on stock for over a month now. There are literally no WRX or STIs available for purchase at ANY of our local dealers.

Does that mean that they are accepting orders in July with a later arrival date or they'll actually be hitting the showrooms in Japan in July?

They'll probably be taking orders here in the U.S. for 2011 models late next month or in early July. Asked the dealer I bough my 2010 WRX hatch from yesterday.

Dealers seem to run out of 2010's and magically come up on a couple right after, even tho production on them has wrapped up. Weird, but you can still find 2010's nonetheless.

I like the XV, except for the wheels/tires and the clear tail lights. Throw on some 8.5" wide wheels and 245mm rubber, tint the tail lights, that is something I'd go for as a DD... Being a 2.0L tubo diesel that means its probably packing upwards of 255lb-ft of twisting force too, so its not going to be a slouch at the stoplights like the NA Impreza. Sure looks better than the new Legacy wagon too!

I like it too. It does need some bigger wheels and rubber, especially with those large wheel arch flares.

Good info rsholland...

Ya know... I've been thinking about this for a while: I wonder how the people of Japan feel about the new STI and the 08-10 WRX's... All we hear is American rambling here on NASIOC.

I'm sure there are some similar feelings with the new STI. However, since they don't sell the WRX in Japan, their 2.0GT provided enough gap/differences with the STI, that they probably don't complain on "how close the WRX performs to the STI" like here in the U.S.

I was told ordering will be available in July. Probably very little chance on getting it in Aug or Sept. I am thinking late October at the earliest.

I couldn't wait any longer and therefore, I purchase a new 2010 Jetta Sportwagen TDI. I love that car. Drive very nice and I get 40+ MPG and very fun to drive too.

You just are not used to Chillout music in other settings. Try it out some time for some good backroad thrashing tunes.

And ++1 on a diesel like the SV in the States. We've waited too long.
