Default 2015 Wrx Sti

The new 2015 WRX STI is supposed to be revealed in 10 days!
http://www.subaru.com/auto-show/detroit-2014.html

But from what I was told I thought the STI was going to be its own model and be different compared to the WRX.

That's ok, I'll force you to look at my car (kind of like how they do it in A Clockwork Orange), and then you'll grow to love it. Or burn your eyes out.

(For the record, I'm still not fond of the styling of my car.)

I don't mind your car, it's actually okay on the eyes.
it's the bastardization they made with the WRX/STi that's coming out...

You don't mind my car? If that's the case, I'll sell it to you so that I can buy a BRZ.

Wheels look good, would make great winters. Real question is what's under that hood...

Looks like a restyled GV chassis. I like the looks of the earlier car but not much of a change to make me pumped. Someone I know owns a Suby dealership and he sent me specs and the car only has 305hp-huh? yay?

Wheels are great? yeh maybe for winters. Most enthusiasts will change them anyways.

'04 all over again? guess you never drove an '04 STi. I had an '04 STi and an '08 STi and the earlier car was way more of a car than the newer chassis variant. The last fun STi was the '05 chassis, then '06 then followed by the '04. The '04 was the craziest where the lack of widened rear track, yaw sensors, beefier bearings etc. to keep the car stable in corners made it a wild drive. This is the only reason the '05 STi will take it, it was more controllable.

I was referring to the big surprise it was to the public when subaru introduced the EJ257 not the handling characteristics of the car. I do believe though, that although some may think it's ugly which is highly subjective, that this new gen will be a vast step forward both in handling characteristics compared to the outgoing 2011-14 models. Also Speculatively the new motor will most likely be way better than the older tried and true EJ and who cares if it only has 305hp if it has a broader powerband. Looks aside I have high hopes for this next generation. I hear the drive train has been changed in many ways as well "axleforward transaxle, etc" so as a bonus you guys will have a new platform to learn about as well which I'm sure you're excited about!!
P.S I've been the proud owner of an 02, 04, and 06. By far I like my 06 the most but the old 2L was quite fun as well!!

Sorry for jumping on your post.

I was anticipating a new STi that would have more "pizzazz". What a lame term but the new car isn't what I expected. I was acting from a personal purchase point, not a business point of view. I have waited for awhile now bugging Anthony at Anthony's Subaru to get info, even made a deal that I can get rid of my BRZ when the new car comes out. Now I'm not to sure if the BRZ will go.

I'm pretty confident the new car will have a very similar suspension set up as the outgoing car. Maybe rideheight, springrates etc have changed but the front strut, multi-link set-up will be retained. Axle forward transaxle, more weight pushed forward? I want to see one and compare and I guess we will in time.

Look at Mercedes and BMW, they come out with drastic changes in their cycle of cars. HP wars are alive and well with the German beasts but we get 305hp with a better torque curve-not to exciting. I was expecting minimum 330+ hp/torque and something that looked like the blue concept WRX. Subaru needs Mistu back to push them forward and not being so conservative.

I had a '02 WRX which was awesome because we finally got a turbo Subaru in N.America. Then the '04 STi came out and blew everyones mind, the power, the rawnchy behavior made the car take over(car of the year for many publications). '05 and '06 are awesome cars, we can forget about the poor '07. The new '08 STi came out and I bought one after driving a customers new STi. I should have drove the car for a longer test drive because after picking up my new one it felt so subdued when compared to the '04 STi. It felt like something was holding it back, hesitationg to be unleashed. Adding stage 2 made it feel 7/10 of the '04 but still didn't fully succeed. Maybe it was the added weight(not me haha).

Anyways lets cross our fingers and hope this car is the new '04 STi. It will make a lot of people happy.
