Default ID 2000 injectors with E85 good idea?

So I'm planning on using E85 and everywhere you read, people have been using ID 2000 injectors with E85. So I went ahead and got a set that needs to be sent to ID for cleaning. I just stumbled upon this thread how even ID says that if the car is left to sit for a very short period of time, 2 weeks, you have to drain the E85 and run gasoline through them before storing it, or take out injectors and oil them everytime. Not going to do neither. Anyone had this issue?

https://www.iwsti.com/threads/id2000-injectors-and-e85.267833/

So the ID 1300 had anti corrosion internals and the ID 2000 didn't. These injectors are discontinued, and now it looks like all of ID injectors are anti corrosion. What do you guys think?

Im not sure where this came from, but certainly not the case. I have these injectors, run e85 97% of the time. I never drain anything. I leave my car sit in the garage for weeks (start occasionally), and let it be. You will be ok

Thanks for the reply. Just filled out the cleaning and inspection form from ID. Just received a email from them and under the "How to avoid Deviation" sections it says,

"Do not let your E85 or methanol powered car sit for extended periods of time. In hot
humid weather, the alcohol can absorb enough water to rust injectors in less than a week.
If the car is going to sit, "pickle" the fuel system by emptying the tank and flushing the
system by running the engine on gasoline for a few minutes."

My car has been down since just before Christmas with the setup you're referring to. I can send you some cold start videos if you want- just got it up and running again the other day.

Thanks for all of your feedbacks. Im getting mixed answers here. I just don't get it, if it's not such of a issue then why would ID put a warning everywhere?

its a warning and with any warning, you can listen to it or not. the biggest problem with E is it absorbs water, so that is why you dont want to leave it in the tank for a long period of time. When I got COvid the gas sat in the tank for about 6 weeks and was super hard to start and it didnt run very well. until I ran down the tank and filled up with some fresh gas

But don't we start to listening to the warning when it comes to builds like this? :-)

So the problem is not just injectors get corroded, its E itself. So even if I leave the E in the tank and remove the injectors, I still might have issues because the E in the tank absorbed water? So i guess after each race ill have to run it almost dry and fill it up with 93 gas before storing.

Not sure about the id2000’s. I just got the id1700’s and they will be installed soon. I’ve read that it’s a good idea to run pump gas every now and again to clean the system out. (Assuming you have flex fuel tuning). Other than that I’ve heard not to store the car for any long period of time (mine sits in the garage during the winter) with e85 in the tank and lines. For this I will fill up and run pump gas through my car before I store it for winter.

A lot of people still run the id2000 on e85. You will be fine.

one of my cars does this on pump gas if left in tank for a couple months, I have it tuned on the edge of running lean off boost and if gas gets old it won’t run that lean till I refresh the fuel

On the 2000s. They were originally designed by Bosch for propane and natural gas applications. Because of this they have a high, iron content pintel. This is why the injector performs well at idle and higher base fuel pressure, the pintel opens quickly compared to other big injectors that don’t have as much ferrous material in the pintel. This is also at a trade off. They are more prone to rusting and sticking shut. Especially on hygroscopic alcohol fuels that readily absorb water.

Gotcha, ok I think I can learn to live with that. Shipped them out to ID for cleaning and spring install. Thanks

I also have ID2000's and run E85 100% of the time. When I talked to ID they just said as long as I'm running a fresh tank through regularly and the car doesn't sit for more than a few months without running it's fine, and even if it sat for that long it's likely still fine as long as it was fresh E85 to start with.

Personally, if my car was going to sit for more than a few months I'd see about running some pump gas into it just to condition the system, but it'd have to be more than 3 months for me to think about it.
