Default Helicoil safety with Brembos?

Hi everyone,

I recently had a caliper mounting hole snap on one of my front gold Brembos right where it was helicoiled during an autocross. I had 255 RE-71Rs and hawk HP+ pads and was threshold braking from about 70mph. The calipers were badly corroded and had definitely seen better days, so I am hesitant to blame the helicoil alone. However the helicoil certainly contributed to the lack of material holding the brake to the car.

Most of the replacement calipers I am seeing for sale have also been helicoiled. I would like to know what your experiences have been with helicoiled gold brembos. Posting here in the Motorsports section because you guys will be the only people using sticky pads and tires with these calipers.

Please let me know what your experiences have been. Do I need to go find a pristine set of calipers?

Thank you!

What's A Head Gasket?

I helicoiled mine 8-9 years before they were retired from the car and they held up fine. This includes 140 mph to 60 mph braking at track days and hundreds (if not thousands) of hard braking events on 315 or larger hoosiers at ABS threshold.

Unless the helicoil is improperly installed I would not suspect it.
