Default I think my car hates me...

As you may know, my car has been down for months.
I get close, and a part is wrong or damaged. Alright, that happens.

So now a friend and I are mocking it up with my APS header, APS turbo inlet, TD06 20g, Helix downpipe, and other stuff and it is just not working out. I think Subaru changed the intake manifold for 2006... I can't get the turbo to be at the right angle to miss the intake manifold runner.

So, now I am researching to see if people have actually been pulling off big turbos in the 2006+ WRX.

So now I am going to try and make this setup work, but more than likely, this setup is getting sold/returned and I will be heading rotated.

Not good.

I'm talking to Blouch turbos now...hopefully something gets sorted out, I think the turbo is the problem.

It should all fit, I've done similar setup's, not on an 06 though. As far as I have seen though the 06 manifold is pretty close to the same, minus the changes in the air pump and the inter cooler etc. Are you using the 3" inlet tube to the turbo? I've seen several setups that require the use of tumble deletes because the turbo inlet actually hits against the #3 tumbler generator.

It's a tight squeeze if it does all fit, I can tell you that. Break out the shoe horn and the crisco.

Give me a call, I'd be more than willing to lend you some advice and or extra hands, haven't seen you in a while either.

Sweet, thanks Dan.
If I don't call you while I'm working I'd love to meet up with you and shoot the breeze or whatever.

Well, shucks.
I tried the stock header + up pipe just now... I have no idea how this is going to work. I don't feel like mickey mousing anything together on my car...so I think it's time to start looking towards a GT30r kit.

Suggestions? I was looking at the Perrin kit, but of course they have so many options....

Have a shop take a quick look at it or have someone who has done a turbo upgrade before. Id offer but Im pretty busy through the next two weeks =/.

I dont see what changes would have been made to interfere with the turbo on the 06.

Do you have any pictures of what its making contact with? Try to do some pictures of the mock up and maybe people can get a better example.

The problem with that is I just turned in my only camera I have in for insurance. I borked the LCD screen.

Basically, it's hitting the TGV actuator and housing. And some other junk I guess. I'm gonna have a buddy come over today and get another set of hands on it because it's nearly impossible to get it right with one person. And I'm gonna take that stock header out, I don't know what I was thinking putting that thing back in... I think the fitment on the stock is worse than on my APS...

We'll see what happens.

3 inch inlet? With a 3 inch inlet you can usually barely get it to fit but it'll rub on your TGV housing. Better to just do a TGV delete as long as it's apart anyways. Even if you go rotated you still might as well do the TGV delete. Good HP gain even if it doesn't rub.

It's no 3 inch inlet, but it's a little larger than stock.
Might as well do the TGV delete...

And I want to get someone else out here to take a look and see if there's any dumb thing I'm missing...I doubt it though.

I've got a TDO5 20g on my 02 and i couldn't use my perrin inlet because it hit the intake manifold or rather the TBD's

I think my car loves me again.
Worked on it with a friend today, got the turbo inlet in, turbo in, and they worked out decently. I will work more with it tomorrow, but I think it will work out okay! I also got my FMIC mounted and most the piping routed. Sweet deal! I scratched some powdercoat today though, kinda made me mad for like 30 minutes but I got over it.
Hope to have this bad boy buttoned up in a week or so.

EDIT: The APS inlet looks MUCH bigger when installed, lol.
