![]() Was getting ready to leave work this morning and started the car and noticed it wanting to idle rough, blipped the throttle and it cleared up. Thought it was weird but started my drive home and it felt off for about a mile and then it cleared up and felt normal again. Pulled in to the house, idled fine and let it sit there for a minute idling and the CEL popped on and I looked at the AccessPort and it said these two codes.
Going to try clearing out the codes in just a bit when I get ready to go to the store. If they come back, where do I start? |

![]() interesting that both left/right came up.
quick first check might be to look at the oil level. the cam position sensors are oil pressure operated. very low oil level could cause that. while you're checking the oil, look for any glitter in the oil, just in case there was some failure that clogged up both screens going to the oil control valves (hope not!) maybe then start taking off front covers to check that the timing belt hasn't slipped a tooth or two. is your timing belt overdue for replacement? seems like a wide range of issues can cause these errors. |

![]() Unfortunately the oil is still full. I did clear the code when going to the store and it came back on within like 20 seconds. Cleared it a second time when I got back home and let the car cool off. Started it back up, it idled rough for about 15 seconds, blipped the throttle, it cleared up and let it idle for about 5m with no CEL, so I took it for a spin, felt like it was normal, didn't break up or feel down on power - maybe just a bit but also maybe in my head knowing it had something going on and being a hypochondriac... got back home let it idle again for another 5m no rough idle and no CEL.
WTF? |

![]() Finally getting around to tackling the problem. I was looking on rockauto for the cam position sensors, and in the description its saying Left lower, left upper same with the right side. Is there really 4 cps's?

![]() Yes, I seem to recall that that STI's have four where LegacyGT's have two.
Why don't you go to a local auto parts store to buy these. You can talk with the guy and he may be able to show you in the book. I have found my local NAPA has the same guys working there after 10 years of going to them, where as the other chain stores always seem to have different people working there. I walk into my local NAPA and the guys know me..."priceless". |
