![]() recently purchased a 05XT for $1,500 because it ran bad.
failed TGV motor. So i have drug it home and removed the intake manifold to swap over to a set of JDM TGV's i have( yes i know about tuning thanks ) During the intake removal of this 15 year old 180K girl a few small things broke. #1 PCV hose stand on the back of the motor near the turbo. I still have 2 hoses from the VC to the cross over pipe to the center of the block. So can i just cap this thing on the block? or should i put an open breather on it. #2 wastegate solenoid 2nd line. Not the line that goes to the wastegate. but the second line leaving the solenoid that goes back to the intake turbo inlet boot broke.. is this something i can just leave open? it wouldnt see vacuum or boost where it was located. can i just leave it open or do i need to connect it back to something ? #3 the knock sensor connector. it had the wire pulled out of the connector. can i just put some sheilded spades on that and reconnect? the wire on the chassis side looked like a wire inside a wire. but only one wire on the knock sensor side. is this one wire or two? #4 it had evap codes as well. So i was going to remove the solenoid under the hood near the front of the intake and cap all the lines. should i leave the hardline going back to the back of the car open. or cap it? I will eventually pull the box in the rear of the vehicle as well. the cannister. but for now while the intake is off i was going to remove and cap the solenoid stuff. the line going back to the tank. what do you guys do with it? Thanks in advance.

![]() If it was me, I would reconnect everything as originally intended.
All those things are there for a reason. |

Sorry, but it sounds like you know what you want to do. So just go ahead and plug what you want to and put it all back together. I'm sure you know more the Engineers that designed the car. |

But doesn't answer any question i have. trying to fix the knock sensor do you have any info on the shielded wire? vs one wire? when did nasioc become the site of "leave it stock bru, subaru r smart and do gud". followed by replying to people asking for help with " bru i dont hab n anzer 4 u but imma comment n e wai". wow the respect i had for this board is dropping quickly.. is there another forum now where people actually modify their subarus? or actually reply on topic.. or actually help people with problems. |

Hope some of the bolded answers above help as I know some people on this forum have a god complex and dish out the "ask your tuner" or "take it to the dealer" responses as much as they can to pad their post count. |

![]() You may want to ask over on www.legacyGT.com that forum will have lots of info and some great members that can answer you questions.
IMO you want to keep the stock basic wiring to the sensors. These cars run so well the way they came. Most of us just do the simple mod's but keep the OEM wiring. Over there you can get links to wiring schematics they you may fine helpful. Ask your question the 4th Gen forum there. |
