This is probably a dead thread, but I want to cut the slits in the bumper but my only concern is that the splitters won't fit flush with the bumper.

The place where it does NOT line up is the fender contour, it is off where it joins the original wagon fender ~ It's no too bad, but it was enough I chose not to do it...

What about on the sedans? Do they have the same problem?

I used the wider tape (1" wide?). Had to "double up tape" along diagnal edge where I removed three white/black mounting tabs because I felt single layer tape wasn't thick enough. As long as surfaces are properly cleaned, Splitters are not going anywhere...period. |

I cut the slits and I am very glad I did! Just taping them on just doesn't seem like the right way to do it.

Still taping something to your car doesn't seem like the right way to do something.
But you are right to each their own. |

Bump..
So yeah, I will be installing a pair of splitters on my sedan tomorrow night. I'm still debating whether to use 3M tape or a dremel. I'll probably end up using tape though, instead of cutting into my bumper. Wish me luck. |

did the dremel, the knife and the 3m tape. All suck. Go on ebay, buy a pack of 3m VHB tape. The stuff is 1000,000,000 times better than that 3m crap you buy at advance auto. Slit the clips off, line it up with the bumper and press it on. It will never come off and you won't have to risk screwing up your bumper.

Well, I've decided to go with the 3M tape. Just needed to know where I need to put it. Obviously the top of the splitter, where I cut the three tabs off, but is there anywhere else I should apply tape?

I would also apply it to the front section (the section that wraps next to the fog light cover or fog light surround).

I thought that was was where you bolt the rest of the splitter on. I'm going to attempt this after work and I plan on taking my time. Thanks for the replies though.

back from the dead. so i just picked up a set of splitters for 40$ used off a member in i-club. I don't have the hardware and was reading between cutting and taping. What would others recommend. I'm leaning towards 3m tape but after that parking stopper post I'm a lil bit unsure on which method to use.

Anyone know the part number for the upper bracket (front right) that mounts inside the bumper and secure the to the upper most tabs on the splitter?
