Default Help with rota grid 18x9.5 or 18x10 fitment

Hi All,

I have a 2005 Subaru STI. currently all of my suspension and handling is stock.
I wanted to know if anyone can just give me a quick reply to what i need to do to my car to fit an 18x 9.5 Rota Grid.

Ex: if i need coilovers rolling fenders/pull, spacers ect.

I want to know what is 100% must to make them fit on the car.

I really want that aggressive fitment.

Also if anyone has any suggestions to other size Rota Grids or Best color Rota Grid to go with my car (I was thinking Gold).

Again its a 2005 sti in Obsidian Black.

P.S.- It's my daily driver.

You'll need aftermarket suspension before you even attempt to do this. they will not fit correctly without coilovers.

hellaflush isn't for you, pick a more appropriate wheel choice.

have you tried searching? and NJ isn't in NESIC btw...it's tri-state.

Orly? I don't know what category I fall under, but on 18x9.5 and T0 coilovers I drive my car everyday and take it to autocross. Don't know why wide tires make daily driving any more difficult than stock sized tires.

Clearly the OP is not intending to run 265s. Problems with reduced steering input, bad tire wear, potential rust from rolled fenders, and less suspension travel from having to run coilovers to prevent from rubbing would be issues he'd run into that make them less than ideal for street use.

Depending on what his version of "Aggressive Fitment" is. I've seen this term used for wide wheels and the appropriate, non-messican, wide tires as well as wide wheels, slammed and skinny little tires. I'm going with tires 255+ since he mentioned aggressive and 10" wide wheels. I think when you are going this route like I did, road comfort and tire wear is not a concern. Even then, after 20k miles and 50+ autox runs on my star specs and under -2 camber all around, I still have 20-30% tread left. If you don't want to replace your tires every 4-5 summer months, you shouldn't go this route in the first place, or run cheaper, ****tier quality tires. Also, the right alignment is everything in tire life.

^^ you are new around here aren't you.

The wheels hes looking at (we already know which ones) are very low offset. He can run 18x10....with a 225/40 tire. He's obviously not prepared for that.

orly? I drive 25k miles a year, impulsively do 2000 mile road trips, sit in traffic for half the day during my commute. I think its doing just fine.

OP: Coilovers. Camber plates, front and rear. Aftermarket camber bolts, front and rear. Fender mods. Fat ass sway bars would help also.

He can run a 255-265 just fine on the 18x10..even slamming the car to the ground if he wants.

I run almost 4* of camber in the front..and my camber wear is negligible. How much work needs to be done is directly proportional to how low he wants to be.

i decided to go with 18x9.5 rota grids im looking for the least amount of mods possible. im willing to get coilovers.

now this being said i thank you all for the comments.

i really dont want to look like a fool on the road either. i drive alot mainly 5 days a week. im looking for something without rolling or pulling the fenders if i can get away with it.

please list all details needed for this setup.(coilovers,camber plates for rear or front or both, bolts, ect).

i was looking at isc coilovers as they are pretty cheap and seem to be good and i can get them with what ever spring rate too.

any other feedback would be great

There isn't a "least amount of mods possible" when dealing with this set up. You'll need to roll all around for sure. If you need to pull or not depends on what size tire you decide to run. Coilovers are a must as well as camber plates f+r or at least a good set of bolts.

The only way to do this is to get wheels that fit. 18x9.5 wheels don't fit.

If you got the +38's, you could probably get away with a 235/40-245/40. If you got the +30's or lower, you'll probably want to get 215-225/40's.

So lets discount what I said because it's not like I know what I'm talking about, right? In order to run what you want you're going to have to do fender work, unless you run a tire with a retarded stretch in which place you should have gone with a smaller wheel in the first place.

^ Uh-oh. Prepare for the . He can be an ass**** sometimes but what he says is the truth. In regards to your question about tire size, you're gonna have a lot of stretch to fit it with minimum mods to fenders, which imo is not aggressive at all. But if thats what you want, I'd say go with a 225/40 and hopefully you shouldn't rub.

I'm looking to run +38 as my cousin has a legacy gt with 18x9 or 18x9.5 and he has +38 and I like that poking out look it gives haha... I don't like a lot of tire stretch either it really doesn't add to the look imo.

So far its coilovers, camber plates(or bolts), rolling and possibly pulling fenders...

Which tire size will sit the best on the wheel without rubing after its all said and done? 235/40 or 245/40

you can fit a 255/35/18 on an 18x9.5 +38 without rear camber adjustment as long as you're willing to modify the fenders. figure out how far you're willing to go and then choose the appropriate tire size.

18x9.5 +38 is a damn breeze... people that don't know this are still living in a box.

I personally like 245/35/18 on WRX/STI's and it will fit just fine on a 18x9.5

you sir would be very happy with 18x9 +38 or more and running 255/265/35/18s
i am on 17x9's w/255/40/17s +28, rolled rears camber and good ride height, the extra offsets much better and a breeze to fit

ordered the coilovers and camber plates today.. will have them before this sat. but still gotta wait to buy wheels.

so wheeldude.com says i need spacers even though the offset will be +38... is this true? or can i do without spacers??

my main dilema now is tire size. forgive me but i know S**T about tire sizes for these wheels.

whats the difference between 235/245/255/265??? there are so many options however i dont know what each one does. therefore i cant choose which one for my application...

please help with a brief explanation of the difference between 235/245/255/265?

I wouldn't take Subydude's (wheeldude) advice for pretty much anything. Which coilovers did you buy?

Those numbers are tire widths (informative link). Personally, you seem to be in over your head, no offense. You don't seem to understand what you're trying to do to the car.
