Makes me mad that only the Limited will get the rear seat A/C vents. When I was in Japan in '08, the BASE model had them. And no HIDs?

People seem to prefer the previous Legacy. Thats because they haven't seen the new Legacy Wagon. It looks so much more aggressive and muscular. The old one seem feminine compare to it.

But too bad. not sold in US.

And the wages, from what I've seen of my Alberta relatives, does not justify it at all. I don't understand why you Canadians are penalized like that.

Exchange rates are part of the story:

The Loonie is usually worth less than the US dollar.

The cost of living in a socialist society. Import tariffs and high taxes to pay for health insurance and such.

In Canada, I thought Subarus were higher priced than other Japanese imports, essentially Subaru Canada trying to make up for smaller volume with higher pricing.

*edit* Just realized you were probably talking about the wages rather than Subaru prices.

Ew, not liking the headlights at all. It's a shame that it got the uglier Impreza grille. I thought the new one on the XV was going to be Subaru's new grille. I was expecting the Impreza to get it too. Oh well it just makes the XV more pimp.

This is definitely a part of it. If they sell fewer cars it is more expensive per car to offer them in Canada so you have to make up the difference with price premiums.

It's too bad they waited so long to address the roly poly suspension. My wife probably would have bought a 2011 H6 Outback, but it was just too boring to drive.

its even worst in quebec, here if your making 50K a year your clearing 2300$ net a month, deduct from that the sales taxes, your looking at 18k if your lucky. we have the worst roads in north america and the free health care is a disaster . and on top of it we pay more on most stuff, its not called being penalized its called being raped , for protection money.. you know

actually for the past 10 years the looney has done pretty good against the dollar always withing a few cents if not passing it due to your money losing its value by the gobs with all the printing being done, and in the end if i actually got what i paid for ,by all means take 50% of my income.. but thats not the case here

how is that logical? its not they are going out of there way to bring cars to canada, same shipping route then the US, what would the reason be when the same car going over to the US comes here and cost more, if there are less people buying it? are they adding more features? is it traveling more? are they losing money making cars for here? before the excuse was that the canadian dollar is weaker so we pay more, hasn't been the case for a long time now.

back to the topic, is this what your talking about? i guess to each his own but that still looks huge and ugly to me, maybe your right the previous version is more feminine , but so is every other exotic car, and why do we give the female attribute to our cars?
to me a curvy sexy women is always more appealing then some power lifting butch which the new legacy reminds me of btw

Here are some pictures of the 2013 Legacy and Outback. Those Outback wheels have an unusual design.

There are how many people in Canada compared to the US? You live in a small country. Then divide those few people by how many car companies? Subaru is a niche player everywhere, so that means they can't make the same revenue in Canada as the US since they won't sell as many cars. Then add in the cost to ship cars to Canada, to pay for Canadian safety rules (5mph bumper, etc), maintain a dealership network, warranty cars, etc. Oh, and yes, your currency is still worth less than ours. Which means when you compare it to the strong Yen, they lose even more money.

In addition to the dropped Legacy GT, cars101 says:

... Legacy 2.5i Premium with manual transmission, and both Legacy and Outback 3.6R Premium models have been discontinued. If you want one now is the time!
So to get a power bump in the Legacy or Outback, you now have to purchase a Limited trim.

So when they discontinue the WRX and STI, Subaru will join Toyota in producing the world's most boring cars.

You can still get a base 3.6R.

We saw this the first time around with the Legacy GT.

That probably means that any power bump at all is on it's way out in the next few years.

Subaru continuing to 'broaden and enhance' our choices. Still, I want them to make money so good for them. Just don't kill ALL the turbo, manual transmission, hatch/wagons.

My dad has a 2010 3.6R, I feel your pain, we took it on a road trip to the Grand Canyon last year and all I could think on those roads was "Where's my Rex?!!"

What's so frustrating about it is the rest of the world never got the rolly-polly suspension, or the idiotic roof bars and they always had the seat memory, rear A/C ducts and H.I.D headlights.

Explain to me why the Forester Limited gets H.I.D.s while the Outback does not? Who was the marketing genius product planner that came up with that?
