Brake and Battery light being wierd
So I just finished turboing my RS, Im using a Greddy Emanage Ultimate for engine management, along with an LC1 wideband.
When im driving just randomly the brake and battery light will come on, they flicker sometimes then eventualy go off, at one time, when i would give the car WOT they would shut off then come back on when i let off, but that only happened once. All the brake components are relitively new and working fine, I just had the battery and alternator checked and everythings shown as working fine. I havent touched the gauge cluster, for awhile now. I have a multimeter here to do any readings but I could really use a direction to start looking in. So does anyone have any idea whats going on with my car?

How thoroughly was the alternator checked? This symptom can indicate bad diodes in the alternator but a standard check with a voltmeter will still indicate the proper voltages. Only a scope will diagnose this correctly.

It was checked at an autozone with professional equipment, I even remember the guy saying the diodes where ok so the alternator is probably good, and when I say new i mean like a month old. Would some better grounding (one of the stupid kits) maybe solve this problem?

You need to find the problem and fix it, a grounding kit isn't the answer. It's possible the cause has to do with a bad ground, but before you modify or add anything the factory stuff needs to be in proper working condition.
Assuming that Autozone is correct and the alternator is ok, the next thing to do is check all the main power and ground connections starting with the battery terminals. Take the terminals off the battery and make sure that the posts are clean and shiny, and the inside of the clamps are clean as well. The wire connections at the terminals should be in good shape and when the clamps are tightened on the posts they should not move around. Check the main power wires where they connect to the alternator and fuse box, and the main grounds at the battery, frame and engine. With the engine running, a voltmeter across the battery should read between 13.5-14.5 volts. |

06? Take it to the dealer and let them worry about it.

Well I don't exactly feel like paying the dealer price, since I have modified my dash lights to LEDs, which then they will tell me that it voids the warranty, and then I would have to pay up

well they are blue LEDs, which means I removed the green film on the back of the gauge face to get the color i wanted. That's the only thing that's holding me back from taking it in right away. I just wanted to see if I could find out the answer on my own first, before resorting to the dealer
