Since there's a big wildfire happening in Oregon, a lot of the ash is raining down on the rest of the PNW. I live in Seattle, so yesterday I checked to see if my covered parking spot did some work while I was at work. Looks like it did. May take it to a touchless after work today.

I removed my side AC vents and spray painted them flat black to remove/cover the silver trim and black out the interior. After a few minutes drying time I slid them back in and they look factory. No more reflection off my window tint!

Wheels reinstalled. I have the winters on right now with the OEM TPMS sensors as I am diagnosing an issue with my cloned ones on the aftermarket wheels I have. So I took this as an opportunity to give my summer wheels a thorough bath and swap these on to see if it's the car's TPMS system or my aftermarket sensors.

Did a compression check! 132 across every cylinder, would prefer a higher number but very happy with consistency!
Of late did spark plugs, cleaned up engine bay and changed all fluids in driveline and coolant. Just more aware of what I have now where it's new to me! |

Got my JDM V7 STi seats installed today. I imported them from the UK for $350 shipped. They needed a serious cleaning. I think I need to clean them again because the driver's side (now the passenger side, lol) smells a bit like smoke with a hint British of arsehole.
I first attempted to swap the passenger side seat onto my USDM 03 Bugeye base but the V7 STi seat has an aluminum pan that is incompatible with the USDM WRX bases that use some stupid spring setup. Fortunately my buddy is the Subaru seat encyclopedia so we went to the junkyard today and pulled a seat base out of a '98 forester. The forester seats have the same pan style as the JDM seats so after swapping the JDM seat over to the Forester base it was a perfect fit. I had to use the Forester pan. The JDM seat had an additional cushion brace but it is riveted on and will need to be drilled and bolted on the Forester in order to work but I didn't think it was worth it to deal with that today, maybe another day. The driver's side required no mods to bolt to the passenger side and now the passenger will have height adjustability. Next I wired three 1 ohm resistors in series for each seat's side airbag connector to get the airbag light to go off. The JDM seats are super comfy and feel a lot better cornering. My seats are black, not the usual blue that you most often see on V7 STi seats. Here are some crappy cell phone pics : https://i.imgur.com/4wBSShJ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4rO3ZXN.jpg There is some residual oxy clean I need to clean out and when I install OEM seat heaters I will paint the adjustment knobs on the JDM seats and swap the black seat trim back on after cutting holes for the knobs. |

Installed the COBB IWG bracket. Not much room to uninstall the IWG actuator, but once removed so much more room

I finally replaced by damaged left fog light on my ride. Looking online and I found the OEM replacement at a good deal. I ended up saving about $45.00 less shipping and it came with the factory warranty. I like the way things came out. https://www.subarupartsdeal.com/part...del=&Filter=()

Used the iPhone through the bluetooth on the radio for the first time to let them know I was stuck in traffic and would be late. Cool.

Replaced the cabin air filter (first time in my life doing that to any car ever, how did I miss that?), and put a MAPerformance map on the AP. Working on headlight plans and tail light plans.

Broke the caliper bolt off in the rear Brembo, drilled the bolt a number of time to fit the largest extractor.... Failed at extracting the bolt. Managed to unscrew the bolt by tapping it in circles and discovered the threads had NOT been compromised. Put the new wheels and tires on and gave her a bath.

Realized my 2.5 N/A Auto Outback is a bit like me:
Slightly under powered and if you try to make it do something quickly it just makes a lot of noise and doesn't do much. |

Well i planned to do all my brakes and diff/ trans fluid today, and got everything but the fronts done, until i sheared an effin lug stud. I had all my lugnuts torqued to spec, but one would unscrew a little and then not go anymore whatsoever, which was super weird. tried going back and forth with it a dozen times until we sheared it with a breaker bar....

What engine should I swap with a 2003 2.5rs
I’m looking for my very first car and today on craigslist I found a nice mint 2003 impreza 2.5rs and it’s engine is blown. They are selling it for 2500 and I don’t know what engine (likely an ej20) I should put into it or what else I need besides the engine (tranny, ecu, anything really)
I know this might be the wrong thread to post on but I’m a new member so it will only let me reply rather than make a new thread. |

Put in Morimoto C-Lights with a DRL harness, and blacked out the chrome in the lights. Did the tail-as-turn on the rears, along with LED back-up lights and former turn-signal as additional back-up lights. Turned pretty awesome.
I have to say, though...dismantling these headlights is an insane pain in the ass. |
