Not sure about your question Goose, but I was asking if anyone had visited these French Islands of Miquelon and St. Pierre.

I haven't personally been there but my friends father is from St.Pierre. She and her family vist there on a fairly regular basis. What would you like to know about it? I might be able to answer your questions or find out within a day...

Cheers,
Chad

I'm just very intereseted in how Canada's culture has effected these French Islands. Also stuff like currency, are they often supplied by France, so on.

Ile de Madelaine are in Canada.

St-Pierre et Miquelon is French. I have a friend that grew up there. From what I understand, they deal alot with Canada. One of the only reasons why France kept the Island was for fishing. I'll have to ask him more specific questions next time.

Despite being so close to Canada (a very short ferry ride from the Burin Peninsula in Newfoundland). The culture is still quite francais. They use French currency, speak french etc... The most common thing I've heard about St.Pierre et Miquelon is the cheap booze! haha! Years ago there was a big thing about smuggling mass quantities of booze from St.Pierre et Miquelon to Newfoundland. I'm sure it still happens today...

Cheers
