I have no dexterity
I was bored, so i rented some video games...
soul caliber 2 (gamecube) I start playing.. go into the practice mode to figure out what some of the characters moves are.. get some of the major stuff down, and a few extra cool things. get playing in the weapon master mode to unlock stuff. And this game is getting hard.. they start throwing special cases at you (only damage from throws.. etc) I get though a good chunk of the game, and its starting to get really hard.. and its almost seeming to me, that button mashing is far more effective than attempting combo's. I think i replayed one stage near 10 times!.. ugh.. so i save there.. and move onto my 2nd game.. Zone of the enders: 2nd runner (ps2) I played the first one, and liked it a lot. kind of like playing an anime. good story, fun game play. The first one was kind of easy, so i'm expecting similar here as well... boy was I in for a surprise. immediately the first level almost demanded mastery of all the base functions of jehuty (the mech robot thing). It just got harder and harder from there. the only grip i have about this game aside from the insane difficulty, is the camera. The targeting system works well in rapid combat with many targets.. where it fails is when you're required to navigate somewhere while still in battle. Its easy to get disoriented, and while jehuty can move quite fast side to side.. he seems to have difficulty getting somewhere up and down. the good thing about this game, is when you fail (and i fail very often) it doesn't restart you way back. All this has left me feeling like i have no finite dexterity at all. I remember the same feeling playing a mini game in ff x-2 (syncing the lightning towers). I was being required to react to 1 of 14 different buttons in random order very rapidly. My brain simply wouldn't let me accomplish this... I'd see L1 on the right side, and hit R1 instinctively realizing that it was in fact L1 only AS i was pressing the button... any slower reaction (pause to process in fact what button was being flashed) would also fail. I think i'm too old (22), and never developed these skills enough when i was younger.
