I'm not 100% on this but think the only diff is angle of inlet and outlets on the turbo.

Same turbo core. Different exhaust flange. The WRX 16G is a DSM turbo just a non twin scroll version and with a WRX DP flange. There is a twin scroll version as well which is pretty different is that what you mean?
