I think I'll wait til someone sources the proper part from overseas. Curious tho if there's an existing plug there or if it has to be custom wired.

Many thanks ajsti24.

I just tried and only removed the two nearest plastic push rivets to get some more wiggle room. Did you remove all the lower rivets? Or did you remove the entire bumper?

I'm still trying to pop it out without resorting to removing the bumper.

For the part on the right, it has 2 clips on the bottom that I can push in. Does it have 2 clips on the top as well? I'm going to source the L bracket from a local auto store. I've seen them. Just need to compare with the existing metal clips for the bolt size/thread.

For those that truly need everything OEM. You'll need to source the Australian or EDM/JDM part number (for the metal L bracket/clip). I've asked japanparts.com and it's not out yet. The red reflector housing is the same part as on previous cars though.

the plastic cover trim has 2 tabs in the bottom and top, i first removed the 2 clips at the bottom of the rear bumper and you will have room to work on, then used a flathead screw driver to release the tabs, no need to remove the rear bumper. Yeah still workin on the L bracket to make it work this weekend.

Post up the dimensions of the bracket when your finished please. I may try making one opposed to waiting for overseas parts that are most likely overpriced.

Installed mine today.

JDM fog:
After taking off four push clips, I pushed the black factory piece out.
I pushed jdm fog housing in from the inside of bumper, saw that the mount holes are different (jdm fog is on back of housing where our bumpers is on side).
So I took zip ties though the metal mount holes on fog housing, ran zip tie through side mount holes on bumper and zip tied in place on both sides.
On one side I ran one from bottom mount hole on bumper up through first zip tie to pull housing back in a bit as the one side sat out a few mm.
Housing is in there nice and snug, looks great. Ran wire up (looking at back of car) left side, there is hole just behind plastic latch cover in trunk, poked hole in the rubber plug, ran wire up to taillight. Cut off plug on fog wire, spliced into parking light on taillight so fog light will be on whenever lights are on.

Cool, did you get the foglight kit or just the housing?

How much?

Yea I just ordered the housing for 110 and I'll just get a 7440 socket and led bulb off from superbright led.com for like $10-15 and wire it myself. That is the cheapest full kit I could find tho. Just seems like a real easy way to save $50 or so.

I wish I could just buy the reflector and just fit it in, I dont think it's necessary to have that light work imo.

You can, it's 110 on rally sport direct.

Housing only. Although seems silly to have it just for looks

Here's mine wired today:

Left side muffler removed for easy access to the rubber grommet plug where the harness will go in:

Looking at the rubber plug below the tailights:

Here is an alternative bulb i used with lower wattage at 5w (tail lamp lumens):

To make it 5W power: remove/delete 21W terminal:

Move the inner 5W terminal to the side, this will line up with the JDM fog socket:

Final set-up: 5W bulb

After having an FR-S, this is one of the first mods that came to mind when we got our 2015 WRX.

I spoke with a company that manufacturers various lighting products for that platform, and it looks like they might bite on a full kit. I told them it must cost less than the sum of the JDM parts and / or have a little more style to it.

We'll see what happens!

I have mine installed but not wired. Still waiting for a JDM vendor to start selling the 2015 version properly fit our bumper. Hoping also they can sell the actual wiring harness that goes to the main harness.

You do not use a fog-lamp in place of either a parking lamp or a brake lamp. It is designed to illuminate rearwards in a specific fashion during adverse weather conditions.

By having it illuminated for a purpose other than as a rear fog-lamp, it will blind the driver behind you.

Also, having any rearward facing lamps pulsing (flashing or modulating) in a constant fashion while the vehicle in motion means you are signaling to other drivers behind you that there is a problem or issue with respect to you and/or your car and to take caution. By doing so, you can and very well may cause traffic behind you to slow down or even be the cause to an accident by another.

If you think this is fun or cool, then take it to a meet or an off-road / track event and show it off.

Further, any brake lamp other than the two regular side lamps must be above that horizontal plane. A 'fourth' brake lamp below this plane, such as the use of the rear fog-lamp position, is illegal.

Remember, I'm a prick. I really don't care if you break the law or not and think that this is funny. I just don't need to be blinded by such misuse. I have been by some idiot in my area that has done this same thing and thinks its cool.

I am however a proponent of using a modulator (pulse / flash module) with respect to the actual brake lamps as a means of additional signaling to a driver behind you.

If you do, you might not want a module that, while the brake pedal is engaged, to continue modulating the brake lamps. This may signal to anyone that you have an emergency or similar issue and may be illegal in some states. A module that modulates the lamps for a specified period and then allows the lamps to stay lit without further modulation is fine.

I agree, I would hate to be behind a flashing light. I really dont know why people would do that crap. YOUR NOT F1 racers. With That said.. I would love to make this my brake light.

Anyone have the part number for the metal clips that attach to the light housing? Mine didn't come with them and as such I have nothing to zip tie to.

Has anyone fitted the rear fog light to the 2015 STI yet? The opening looks the same as the outgoing model.
