Default How do you guys deal with the heat? I'm from the midwest visiting Texas

Hi guys,

I'm originally from IL so the summers are not too bad here. Gets to the 100's maybe 1-2 days a summer.

However my parents have been telling me that you guys usually expect 95+ degree weather during the summer. I'll be bringing my car down for the first time this summer when classes let out.

How do you guys cope with it? Tinted windows? Car visors?

I already swapped out my leather shift knob for a delrin one lol, in preparation for the extreme hotness.

I don't even notice it.

But you could always try parking strategically when you do, under trees, in garages, etc.

I hate using my A/C. I'm always the windows down type of guy. Maybe I'll just drive around naked.

If you're coming to the Houston area, you will use your A/C. The humidity will murder you.

Fully metallic tint works wonders to keep the car cool in the summer. When you first get in the car turn the A/C on outside air and roll all the windows down to let out excess hot air. When you notice the car isn't getting any cooler (while you're rolling) roll all the windows up and switch to recirculation on the A/C. Your car will be cool in 2-3 minutes tops!

Great tips. Idk about the metallic tint though, I guess I'm going to have to research a bit and see if they'll look decent on my car.

Will it decimate all? Do you have to overnight it from Japan?

Anyone have any tips on keeping your A/C in tip top shape? I know running it atleast once in a while just to keep the seals lubed is a good way. Anything else?

I'll be topping off my coolant and all that jazz before the road trip down there.

I don't think I've ever heard of anyone having to run the A/C to keep it lubricated. We use it enough down here, that it isn't an issue.

Last summer was extremely mild. If you're lucky, it will carry over to this year. Then again 30+ contiguous days of 100+ weather isn't out of the question either.

I saw a kid walking down the street last week in jeans a big hooded jacket with the hood up...

It can get kinda toasty down here, just park strategically like said before.
