We bash Tom Doll all the time, so why not bash Elon too? I know, Doll isn't Subaru's CEO, but he's the American face we have to thank for all the boneheaded decisions SOA makes.

So Bash Doll & love Subarus. Bash Elon, love Teslas. I don't see a problem here.

Good point. But there isnít a thread dedicated to bashing Doll. This thread is exclusively dedicated to bashing Musk. Plus any other thread about electric cars. Sure weíve been critical of Doll over the years, but not in any meaningful way. We just gave up calling out his **** because at the end of the day **** Subaru. The Musk bashing wonít quit until Tesla is dead or Musk is gone.

To be fair, Doll doesn't give us nearly as much source material as Elon.

Tommy Balls just doesn't care about performance vehicles.
That's why he gets the feces flung at him. And he no 5dr with turbo. But nobody can say he is doing a bad job in regard to money. And money is about all any company out there cares about. The rest is marking and bull ****.

^ article says somebody took a pic of one of the new Plaid Model S prototypes getting on a flatbed.

Maybe they were testing what happens when you drive it until the battery is dead.

Person 1: Hey guys, we should drive the car until the battery is dead to see what happens!

Person 2: Uh, the car will just stop working. This isnít exactly rocket science.

Person 1: Yeah, but something else could happen so we should test it out.

Person 2: Youíre a damn moron, go do it and report back.

But seriously. Why would they need to test what happens when a battery dies? The answer should see pretty obvious.

Data from our track tests indicates that Model S Plaid can achieve 7:20 at the NŁrburgring
So that is how they're going to leave it? No 'official' time just an estimate based on data?

They also said they think a 7:05 is possible and that theyíre coming back in a month.

Not sure anyone really cares what they 'think is possible' or what 'data indicates' but rather an actual lap time.

Industry pool testing day doesn't allow them to share times.

What the majority of people probably want to see is a lap time for a current production Model S with the appropriate safety equipment other car manufacturers use for similar timed laps.

The fact they don't even appear to be attempting a time with a current production Model S seems to indicate it's not capable of matching or beating what Porsche claims the Taycan can do. Hopefully once the Taycan is available someone will do that comparison. Then do it again when this 'Plaid' version is released.

^^^This guy gets it. When they Taycan comes out, Chris Harris or whatever pro driver needs to take the Taycan and a off the line production P100D and push it to the complete limit and see which car throws down the fastest lap time.

That being said, Iíve never seen a company or 1 person (Elon) be in such a dick measuring contest to prove which car is the fastest around a track. I wonder how many hundreds of millions get pissed away on stupid PR **** like this which likely results in few if any increased sales when it could go to expediting other projects (semi, truck, Y, roadster). All of which are 1-2 years behind schedule and we dip from 1-2 quarters of being profitable, to 2-4 quarters in the red and needing a cash raise while also ignoring all the pending lawsuits and losses for solar $hitty.

may be one less global competitor soon. EU mandates may help EVs to exist. Nio losing money faster than Tesla

It took Tesla about 15 years to rack up US$5 billion in losses. Nio, the company known as China’s Tesla, did it in four.
The bleeding continues. Shanghai-based Nio is poised to report on Tuesday that it lost another 2.6 billion yuan (US$369 million) – around US$4 million a day – during the second quarter, according to the average of two analyst estimates. That would bring accumulated losses at the company, which is backed by internet giant Tencent Holdings
, to about US$5.7 billion since William Li Bin founded the carmaker in 2014.

Cost overruns, weak sales, and major recalls have led Nio to plunge 74 per cent since its market value hit a record US$11.9 billion about a year ago. More broadly, the company’s reversal of fortune illustrates why concerns are mounting that China created an electric-vehicle (EV) bubble that may be about to burst.

“This year and the next, there’s going to be a lot of card-shuffling for these EV start-ups,” said Siyi Mi, an analyst at BloombergNEF. “Before, venture capital chased after them, but it’s not the case any more.”

Amen! Exactly how I see it.

It's not about wanting Tesla to fail it's about how the business is run.

I much prefer the more subtle approach letting performance speak for itself.

Version 10 Tesla software is beginning to roll out today, including Smart Summon. Let's see what happens when it gets in the hands of thousands of owners. There will be a lot of confused people in Walmart parking lots soon.
