By a Canadian who did most of the development in Canada. But yes, he was standing in Massachusetts when he actually invented the game.

To answer the original question, if it's serious, the NRC does an incredible amount of research. Our experience with them is in their aerospace and materials research but they cover a lot of areas. Check their web site.

When I was in Japan people at dinner one night were trying to seriously convince me that baseball (a.k.a. yakyuu) was invented in Japan.

I'm gonna google it now, but I'm 99% sure it originated here. That's like saying Star Wars was imported from India.

edit: I am not so sure about that ski-doo inevention. A man in WI (Carl Eliason) also claims to have invented the snowmobile quite a few year before Joseph Armand Bombardier did.

On the radio today they had a poll on whether or not it was right to pre-empt the hockey game with election coverage. Only in Canadia.
