Anyone in the Air Force ever transition from Reserve to Active Duty? If so, how much of a pain in the butt is it and about how long did it take?

My Reserve unit has been nothing but a headache to deal with. I graduated Tech School in June, was all set and ready to go for my OJT/STP right then in there when I in In-Processed and it's October now and still nothing has happened. I received orders to PCS to MacDill and report today, was about to sign a lease to an apartment over there when I receive a call from my UTM stating they are reneging on my orders. They said I can do my OJT/STP at Homestead but I am currently the only person assigned to that base for my career field, my supervisor is at Tech School for it and there is no one there for me to train under. I've gotten in contact with two other bases that say they could accommodate me for my OJT/STP and relayed that information to my UTM but that information seems to be getting neglected...

If anyone has any info that could help me out it would be greatly appreciated. I've tried to follow the chain of command but nothing has happened. I simply want to learn my Career Field so I can perform well at it and I just feel I won't get that training at my base. If I seem like I am out of line, just say so and I will back down, like I said I just want to ensure I receive the proper training so I can do the job the best I can.

I've TDY'd to Robbins for a bit nothing very fun there, St. Croix was pretty cool though, expensive but very nice scenery.

For my Suby's, my first was a '02 WRX, now we have a '06 Legacy GT 5sp. I hope to get into a '05 - '07 STI in spring.

Just wanted to say, Thank you all and I respect you all.

The Military is probably going to be my future if not a police officer. ( Both may happen )
My deceased father was in Vietnam but got discharged after he took a bullet to the leg. I feel the most noble thing you can do is protecting and serving the people.

Thank you strong and brave men and women . I wish you all well in the future.

Edit : Oh and you all also kick ass for owning Subies :P

So I have a question for you fine people. I EAS on 25Feb2013. My question is in regards to the pro's to con's of selling leave days back vice taking terminal. I have spoken to several folks on base regarding this and quite frankly everyones retarded especially the career planner and IPAC. The points I'm considering are...
  • My number of leave days- 67.5 currently
  • If it's worth it to take terminal in time to make the spring semester at an accredited junior college
  • How much I will make if I sell it back on single e-4 pay
  • I can only sell 60 days back correct?
I tried to do a search on here for a questions forum regarding this subject but came back with nothing. This is a large database of people with experience in this so if anyone can give me any resources, or insight towards the subject I would appreciate it!

If I'm not mistaken, you continue to get BAH and all the other various allowances while on terminal leave. But selling leave back, you won't. That a hefty amount of money depending on the amount of your allowances. Of course it is all a moot point if you reside in the dorms/barraks though. I'm also AF though, so I'm not sure if there is any difference between services.

BAH and other such allowances are stopped after 30 days of terminal. And commands aren't required to give them to you. I agree, take the terminal if you can, as selling leave back only gets you base pay.
