Question VW New Beetle rims fit 06+ WRX?? Is this true?

I have heard on the Montreal Subaru forums that the VW new beetle rims (16" steelies) will actually fit the 06+ WRX...

Does anyone know if this is true? Would be a great alternative!

Unless things have changes in the last year or so - Yes they do fit, but they don't fit perfectly.

The bolt pattern for many VW's is 5x100, just like most Subaru's. The centerbore is slightly larger, which means they will fit on the subie with a spacer ring or with the weight on the lugs. The Golf and Jetta came with 15" steelies and the New Beetle came with 16" steelies. What you have to watch for is the offset. Stock VW's came with offsets ranging from +35 to +50. Subaru's need something in the +48 to +53 range.

These rims are actual subaru fitment with the +50 offset and caliper clearance and perfect hub centric. at $55 they are a deal.

if these were VW wheels, the hub centers would need to be bored out to fit the subies.

No, VW's bore is 1mm LARGER than ours....not 1mm smaller.

VW's have to bore SUBARU wheels...

If they indeed are VW wheels....you don't want to run them as they are slightly over-bored.

Sorry, my BAD. I was under the assumption that VW's were smaller. I can tell you for a FACT that these are subaru direct fitment in terms of offset and hub.

So has anyone run 98+ beetle rims on their subaru?

Bolt patterns are the same at 5x100
Center bore is 57.1 vw and 56.1 subaru
Not sure if the hardware matters but i read 14x1.5 vw and 12x1.25 subaru
Offset is what concerns me. I have seen +34-42 front and +35-40 Rear for the VW and +42-55 for Subaru.

Does anyone have any experience running vw beetle rims on an impreza? i found a great deal on rims for a 01 beetle and cant seem to figgure out if they will work or not for my 97 OBS

Its true, the wheels will be speaking German and the car will be speaking Japanese. If you try this your car will invade Poland and attack Hawaii.

Correct, or at least not safely IMO. Subaru uses conical lugs stock, VW uses ball seat lugs stock. Hence, the factory wheels are designed for ball seat lugs, and AFAIK there's no company that makes ball seat lugs in our thread pitch.

Otherwise most VW wheels would work though. Offsets, centerbore, and sizing all aren't perfect, but are by no means dangerous.

The 3 advanced autos around me sell acorns in the correct thread pitch.

"Ball seat" and "acorn" are not synonymous. Acorn style refers to tapered seat. Ball seat is, well, ball seat. Borrowing from this page:

I'll be honest, I've always thought acorn was referring to the little shorty stock style lug nuts, like the one on the right in this blurry picture:

Either way, doing some googling and searching on a couple parts websites I have yet to find any ball seat lugnuts in 12mm-1.25. The only ones I find are 12mm-1.5 (for Hondas).

You're correct, sorry...dunno where my brain was at in my post. VW wheels use BALL SEAT lug nuts which, as you have found too, aren't available in our thread pitch.

Edited my last post.
