Columbus: Took the WRX to the drag strip
So my little brother said he'd cover the fees and ga$. I headed up to Norwalk on Monday. guess they'd just had some big
thing recently and my brother won free time at the strip from a contest there. A bunch of his NASA buddies were there as well. So we ran the WRX with the big wheels and then with the worn-out stock ones. As expected stock was much faster. Using Autronic I gained OVER 1/2 a second. Anti-lag added another .3(for me). Pretty good numbers I think. Smoked a nice 337 Gti who claimed 250hp and Z06 vette. My brother drove my car and did better than I did. sigh. 13.09 My best was 13.21. Stock tires with A/L. I just couldn't get 2nd down right. then again, this is the first time I've ever been to a drag strip and drove. Took me about 3 runs just to get into the 13s! Mr brother thinks he could easily be in the 12s if he beat up on the tranny. My brothers mildly tuned Galant VR-4 ran a best of 13.97 with me in it. he ran a 13.98 (intake, cat-back) hehe, you guys have to see how little is left on the stock tread now. Its pretty damn comical. Time to toss them. I'll find the slips and scan em' when I get back from the rally. There were a buncha guys from Cleveland there "testing" some huge-a$$ Hemi. They ran an 9 flat! (nitrous, etc) Nice track, cool time, and some good seafood afterwards up in Sandusky. All in all a good day. And I didn't hate dragracing like I thought I would. Now if only I could afford to keep this damn ignition. Rev-2 of the dropin works awesome now with the US motor. Thanks to Brian from Chardon(sp?) for the loaner on the Supra fuel pump. Nice WRB wagon. He almost broke into the 13s bone stock! (14.00) Ed (as I know someone will ask) pe-1818f turbo BPM TT turbo back shiv uppipe sti injectors ITG flat panel filter (faster than the 2 CAIs we tested which comfirms what Dale told me! Loud but slow) lightned same diameter crank pulley GFB blow-off valve (my brother got .1 off this?! I gained zip) autronic dropin rally ignition custom ebc (for the ignition) Eibachs with stock struts (for the moment) etc.

At least you did run your car. I got too scared so Kelly ran mine for me. He said is does take a couple of tries before you get the hang of it. I'll definately try it myself the next time.

Nice runs Ed!
I'm glad to see you finally getting to the strip. I think your car definately has more time in it. Post the details of the slip. I want to see the 60ft. and MPH. Later, Dale |
