Default Good way to spend 2 grand?

$550. Pioneer AVH-4201NEX HU
$550. Focal K2 Power 165 KR2 - 80rms, 2ohms
$300. Alpine PWE-S8 - 120watt 8-inch underseat sub
$300. Rockford Fosgate Punch P300X2 - 2-channel car amplifier — 100 watts RMS x 2, 85dB, 1% THD

Concerns:
1 - Are the Focals overkill given the fact that no matter how well i deaden, there will be a good amount of road noise from the tires and my turboback exhaust coming in thru the roof and thin glass?

2 - Is the amp I chose good enough to deliver CLEAN power to the Focals? Not concerned about volume, I never crank it up, more concerned about accuracy and high SnR. No buzzing and crap.

3 - Under seat sub, yay or nay? I had a 10" infinty basslink in my last car, was a PITA b/c cargo space. I feel like I never even fully utilized that to its fullest b/c it was too loud. I'm on the older side, agewise, moreso looking for refined, tight, accurate bass.

let the flaming begin

FYI the 4201NEX has a $150 mail in rebate currently but you have to buy it from an authorized dealer.

Spend the bulk of it on your front speakers and and amplifier for them. Don't run them off the head unit.

skipping the rear fill for sure, dont wanna waste the money on rear speakers and I have the feeling leaving the oem kickers in there would just ruin the Focals up front.

i agree the rears are not even needed, my reasoning is the price of the amp you listed, and the system goal (since your not ground pounding ) i would double the power up going to the focals ( the amp i listed would do that) and have the dynamic range capability for just the focals..... the kit you referenced has crossovers which i assume you will run, hence the bridging of the 4 channel....but it you really wanted to run the front with dedicated power for each speaker you could do that as well..... i always look at more power when i do my own cars.... the more power i have the more dynamic it can be, not loud.... dynamic

I had the idea in my head that too much power isnít good but not sure where I got that idea from. So 200rms would be good for each channel?

Not sure what youíre saying about bridging. Never Installed crossovers before, Iím assuming itís just running one channel from the amp to the crossover which connects to the speaker? I know that I can get a 4 channel amp and bridge 2 channels into one for more power is that what youíre saying

yes im saying take the 4 channel and make it a two channel, and into the crossovers......my opinion is that would be awesome for the focal ..... for normal people that like turning to 11 on the volume..... yeah too much power can be an issue.... but for people looking for dynamic range, and can control themselves....... power is essential

Yeah makes sense now I see what youíre saying. Yeah I highly doubt Iíll ever have it on loud enough for them to blow. And Iím sure focal over engineered them to handle power well above the recommended specs. Will look into more power, thanks for the rec

If you can get a Nex8200, it's well worth the money. Well worth the money and features.
