![]() I have a fully built 04 sti tuned on e85. About two months ago it got new injectors one fuel pump replaced and a new waste gate. Along with a new tune put out 711 at 30 pounds. It’s been driving fine since then. I took it to work the other day let it warm up then jumped in I randomly stalled once leaving the neighborhood but drove fine after. When I was in traffic it randomly began dying when not on throttle and rpm’s would jump when trying to keep the gas steady. When put in gear to move forward it sputters horribly and struggles to drive no matter the rpm I give it. I replaced the coil packs and plugs with proper gap and car still behaves the same. Any ideas ?

![]() Something similar happened to me after my car was in a shop. I had 2 intake leaks. You can check, if you have one, the boost gauge to see if you are losing vacuum while idle.

![]() It sounds like your 2004 Subaru WRX STI, which is tuned on E85 and has been performing well until recently, is now experiencing some significant issues. Even though you recently replaced a fuel pump, it's possible that the remaining pump is failing or that there is an issue with the newly installed pump.

![]() It sounds like a frustrating situation, especially after putting so much into your build! Given that it was running fine after the new injectors, fuel pump, wastegate, and tune, it’s strange that it’s acting up now. The random stalling and RPM jumping could point to a few things. It could be something fuel-related, maybe a fuel pressure regulator issue, or even a sensor like the MAF or throttle position sensor going bad. Since you've already replaced the coil packs and plugs, it might be worth checking the fuel lines or even the tune itself—sometimes things can shift unexpectedly after driving for a while.
I know how tough it can be to troubleshoot something like this, but with the work you’ve put into that beast, I’m sure it’s something fixable! Maybe someone with a similar setup might have dealt with this and can chime in with a solution. |
