Anyone install a hitch with a Borla Hush exhaust?
2006 WRX Sedan, not sure which brand hitch it is, but it has 3 bolt holes per side and the bar goes up and over the exhaust location. |

I have a curt on my 05 STI with a borla hush. I had to use a mix of kartboy extended hangers and stock hangers to locate it away from the axles and braces.

has anyone put a hitch on a 09 WRX sedan yet? My biggest concern is the dual exhaust. It is stock and I plan to keep it that way, but it doesn't seem there is too much for my car.
I want to be able to tow a single jetski or a 2 place bike rack. I am thinking of the curt or hidden hitch (seems like people like both) and a sportrack bike carrier. Just wondering who has what and how it fit Last edited by DonSubie09; 04-05-2010 at 10:21 PM. |

IIRC, only the wagons are wired for it. Subaru doesn't spec the hitch as an option for the sedans.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I think I read somewhere that there is already a "T" branched off of the harness with a dead-end clip. I think it was on the passenger side trunk interior rear wall. Supposedly there is a harness you can buy that clips into the car's harness. I'm pretty sure it was the sedan I was reading about. Don't hold me to it. It might be worth a look before splicing.

In point of fact, only the NA wagons had the wiring harness because SoA only wanted the NA wagons to tow. They were concerned about the turbo wagons running in boost all the time with the way US drivers go 80 on the freeway up a mountain while towing the whole house.
Wouldn't surprise me, though, to see a few turbo wagons have the plug as well when the factory only had NA wiring harnesses available that day. Subaru pulls a lot of substitutions like that. |

2010 WRX Hatchback.
Stock Muffler. Draw-Tite, #24849 ($110 + shipping, from etrailer.com) Installed OK but If I had to do it again, I’d buy new gaskets and remove the muffler altogether. The instructions (http://www.etrailer.com/instructions.aspx?pn=24849) have you simply lowering the muffler off of the rear hangers. However, I found the drilling, installing and tightening the nuts to be a bit of a pain with the muffler and hanger brackets constantly getting in the way. It would have been much simpler to take the muffler off altogether, IMHO. Oddly enough, the task I thought would be difficult: fishing the bolts though the chassis box section, actually turned out to be straight forward. |

Question
I have an 05 STi with the SPT Catback.
Based on what I've seen, the Curt Hitch looks like it will work just fine, but my dilemma is that I have $400 in Subaru bucks that I'd like to use. Can anyone say with confidence that the OEM Subaru Hitch (advertised for wagons) will clear my SPT exhaust. I've heard of folks installing it on STi's, but am not sure whether longer exhaust hangers were needed. Thanks in advance! -M- |

Heres the RS with the jet skis attached. Was testing it out to see if I can pull the Hobie Cat home from California. Worked pretty well. Leaving to make the 3,000 mile trip in a couple days. Will be interesting having a load behind me for the 1,500 home.

the rule of thumb is 10% of the gross weight of the loaded trailer on the tongue. 2000 lb trailer=200 on tongue. This is amplified when the rear of the car is loaded heavy as well. I usually load fairly heavy on the tongue, as it helps keep swaying to a minimum when using mobile wheels/tires.
Here's an old pic when I still had my sandrail. Total trailer weight loaded was ~1900 lbs. avg 23mpg going down the highway ~100 miles to the beach. Eibach ProKits/AGX's on full stiff back then. 225/50/16 tires. No rubbing with the rolled rears. Waaaaay easier now with FXT lift. Erik |

So, my FF-1 needs to get painted... But I need a way to get it there.
I'd like to tow it myself with my Impreza, but I'm trying to figure out if I can via this thread. The FF-1 weighs under 1000lbs right now since its striped minus the suspension/wheels. My impreza is a 5-speed. And I think just a front-wheel tow dolly thingy will work. Can I do it, or should I just pay someone to tow it? I'm also going to have to bring it back, and later down the road tow it to a shop for a custom radiator, and to a shop for the exhaust system to be fabricated, possibly other places too. |
