Car idling rough
I took my car into Monroe to see if they could remove a bolt which they could not (front oxygen sensor bolt) anyways before bringing it to them besides the ecu in failsafe I had a normal idle at around -22inHg now it isles at -20inHg and it’s rough the crazy thing is if i bring the idle up to 1500 or 2000 I see -22inHg on my gauge and the car besides running at a higher rpm the car feels like it did when at idle..
So my question is what’s going on here? Can a exhaust leak cause a low lumpy idle? What I can’t see is how it can cause a low vac reading given I have no front oxygen sensor in right now

Most times a "rough idle" is linked to:
1. vacuum leak 2. dirty IACV 3. dirty MAF 4. all of the above ... and why are you posting this in the "Built Motor Discussion"? |

No, actually, it's people like you that cause all the issues.
Look at your first post: Quote:
You don't tell us what motor you have or any specifics about the motor We have no idea who Monroe is So, with not much to go on you say, more or less, my motor is broke, tell me how to fix it. So many things can cause a rough idle. I gave you the most common, with so little to go on, which you could have easily found yourself with just a weeeee bit of research. So many of people like you think that just because they had forged pistons installed over OEM cast that now they have a built motor. My comment was not a direct attack upon you, even though you seem to have taken it that way. It was a comment that hopefully people would understand that there is a big difference between a built motor and a motor w/"forged internals", and then they would learn to post in the appropriate forum. Many of the Subaru motors already come with "forged internals", but that is not what makes them "built". Just look at the guy that just posted in this "Built" forum, about swapping a "regular" motor in his Forester. Things like that just muddy up the forum, and will usually garner fewer to no answers as opposed to if the post was in the appropriate forum. Last edited by Samurai Jack; 12-05-2017 at 11:24 AM. |
