Yesterday's WOD was awesome.

Mental Toughness:

100 Burpees/no breathing through mouth, just nose. To make sure we did it RX, me and a bunch of our guys put duct tape over our mouth. My time was 9:05.

also, I got my first muscle up! I finally got the right technique down. For me it was never about the strength to get up, I just never did it correctly. But yesterday, it just clicked.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=try-hard

Quote:
A person who puts a large amount of effort into achieving a certain image, or counter-image, to the point where it is obviously contrived. Rather than achieving an image through genuine personality, the try-hard consciously attempts to fit a certain style through deliberate imitation, forced style, or scripted behavior. That is to say, he/she is trying hard to create an image.

I don't know, I thought his original post seemed to fit the definition. He did afterall take the effort to find this thread and be the classic anti.

Thanks Neek. Yeah DY I'm very new, and even scaled back it's kicking my ass. I think this is only the second time I've jumped rope since I was in elementary school. The other Time happened the week before this work out.

Fell a little behind the site. Working to catch up.

Today:
Five rounds for time of:
185 pound Deadlift, 15 reps
15 Toes to bar

Subbed 115 bar
16:55. Near barfed after fourth set of DL's.

Damn man, that's a respectable time for that many TTBs. I have a love/hate relationship with TTBs. I know they'll work my abs well, but GOD do they suck.

Yesterday Shana filled in as coach. I LOVE when she coaches. She is so thorough at explaining the moves, and the finer points of the moves. I'm the type of person who likes to know the WHY behind something, so when she starts getting into all the little things that help a move, I eat it up. And she knows her **** so well, but presents it in a way that you don't feel like a retard for not knowing it.

did this one last week.....the DL's were a rest, but those freaking TTB's were killer. I cant get a swing because of shoulder issues, so I just had to do them very strict. For the next day or two after those, it felt like Kimbo Slice had went 12 rounds on my stomach.

Sorry guys to even infer that I did those TTB cleanly. A few in the beginning were, then it went down hill and ended on leg raises going above horizontal.

Today's:
Complete as many rounds as possible in 10 minutes of:
15 Wall ball shots, 20 pound ball
15 foot Rope climb, 1 ascent

We don't have a rope in our gym and I can't effectively do pullups on a towel. Instead I used my gym's rope climb machine. I set it to the highest resistance and did thirty pulls.

I completely four sets and then 15 wall balls.

I should also point out, I don't have a wall target at my gym, I'm just throwing the ball up as high as I can. But I am using the 20# ball. Shoulders were dying.

Fish started CF last night! He did really well for basically jumping in feet first from a standstill. His exercise recently has been dek hockey once a week. Last night was a lot of running, wall balls, and sit ups. A tough one for sure, and he kept pushing through the whole thing!

He's got better form and flexibility than I have on squats, and naturally strong legs, so I'm excited to see where he can go with this.

Woot woot!

Fish get in here and post up starting stats. Height, weight, %BF if you can, how many pullups you can do, pushups in a minute, any lifts you can test (squat, deadlift, press), how fast you can run a mile, etc.

I wish I did that at the beginning to track my progress from the get go.

did one of the toughest Deck of Cards, that we've done at our gym, last night:

Med Ball Cleans(35lb ball)
Ball Slams(35lb ball)
Flutter Kicks(4ct)
Box Jumps
Joker=400m run

The med ball cleans is what made it so bad.....they just cooked my legs and ate up energy quick.

I'm nowhere near as in shape as most of you, but my Crossfit coach said he put a pic up of me on the page so I figured I'd share. This was taken last week when we were reviewing 5 rep max squats before the WOD. We ran out of time trying to find my max since nothing we put on was slowing me down. My cardio may be absolutely horrible, but I love me some weights! I'm tempted to go in between classes one day this week and try to find my max. I haven't done any heavy weight in over a year since I quit the gym and started Crossfit.

I've definitely done more than this when I was a gym rat but regardless, I was happy with the outcome.

This ish looks pretty serial, I think I might get into this.

You have to buy something or can you just look up the workouts?

Well I'm deployed right now, but we have weights at work. We also have a GYM near where we sleep. It's not your typical GYM with your trainers, brosefs, etc. It's just a decent sized tent with prison weights. It's not too bad.

I was on Insanity for a little while, and it was fun. I've cut down a lot since I've been here, but I'd like to take a turn for the complete cut.

You can go to www.Crossfit.com and they list the 'mainsite' wod each day. Most good gyms do their own programming and post it up the night before too, so you can browse a bunch of them and get an idea of what they do and follow one or more of them. Mine is www.crossfithardcore.com and I think the programming is great.

If you want a bit more of a strength development bias there are two great sites that post up wods particularly for that, www.strongmanwod.com, which is geared towards strongman stuff, and www.crossfitfootball.com which is particularly geared towards football players or other contact sport players, and is run by former NFL'er John Wellbourne.
