Default Never used but old 6-7 year old Bloush Turbo

I bought a Turbo online on a sti marketplace in haste. It was a new 20g Bloush xtr

Well I thought it was new and it is new bc it's never been installed and ran. However, come to find it's a the model from at least 6 years ago.

Can I just install this and run it or do I need to get it serviced first?

Make sure it has no shaft play (it shouldn't if its new) and also ensure that the turbo gets primed with oil BEFORE you start the car and you should be fine.

You can do this by removing the ignition fuse and cranking it.

Thanks for your reply. Good news to me.

What you have is new old stock, or NOS.

Perfectly fine to use.
As mentioned, check for shaft play but make sure you understand how shaft play is properly diagnosed.

Most people think, or improperly claim they, or someone else, have shaft play, when they don't.
The shaft is going to move * some *, even when brand new. If it can't move at all, then it's seized.

Applying VERY light finger pressure, the shaft should move front to back slightly.

Applying VERY light finger pressure, the shaft should barely move up and down slightly.

If this is actually a new, never been used 6 year old turbo, then I suspect you should have zero issues.

Make sure you follow proper install procedures and pre-lubing the turbo and you should be fine.

I absolutely love my 20G XTR. No discernable difference in spool time from the previous VF48 and 20#s all the way to redline.
