![]() STI badged vehicles that are purely cosmetic with no performance upgrades. They could have tS'd this "S210" model, but decided to one up STI badging and go straight to its halo branding. If that vehicle debuted in the US, it never would have been an S designation.

Well, yeah; but not just talking STI competitors. So, then, lets go back to EVO days....... What about GTI, Si, Elantra N. Those types as well. And again, I'm asking "why not" The Type R, at 1% of Civic sales, certainly isn't hurting anything and could be done more. They only make it in one factory. Make it in 2? They just don't want to? That's fine as well. Nowhere in my post was I defending the WRX. I was asking why sales are dropping. It not selling is more price than it is looks. Sales were "fine" when it first came out and the crying was much louder. Sales have declined with the price increases. An NO, I'm not saying the looks are not to be considered. I just don't think it's a defining factor. Like you mention about BRZ pricing. It's just nuts. When the twins were first teased, they were saying they were shooting for a sub $20K car. Was it ever even close to that? But you also gave another "answer" to the question in what the younger folks want and don't want. I think that's also affecting all cars. Or wouldn't those other "better" and "cheaper" cars do better, eh? edit: Question. Does Texas have inspection/yearly stickers for their license plates? Coming back on a call, we were behind one and there wasn't anything to show it has current registration like is required here. Was curious if it's just not a thing there, or are they "illegally" driving around here? Lots of Texas plates here recently for some reason. Quote:

But, that's irrelevant to a model like this. MPG and aero are already different with this model with more HP. Last edited by JustyWRC; 01-14-2025 at 09:34 PM. |

![]() Pretty sure those wheels were on the S4 as well. Not specific to the s210.
I wonder how the fronts differ from the rears. Since they're actually labeled front and rear. Man, they are really pushing the SPT. Maybe the s210 received an updated version with some amazing tuning. This car is what the Ts should've been. Japan just throws around "STI" like its just any regular submodel. |

STI is doing what they have always done. I guess you forget the A-line? They've done it before. Before the argument of "but the MT was available as well". Yeah. Because there was a manual then. There isn't now.......sooo, the car available now reflects what's available. I'm only defending it in that respect. I would love for them to always have the option of either. |

![]() So here is where I get a little confused on the Power numbers.
The 2020 Series White had a 5.4 0-60. The S209 (Despite its Power Numbers) Boasted a 4.7-5.0 Sec 0-60, and Costed $63,000(My previous post of "Making your own S210" Puts the Cost around 61,000). Even Motortrend on a Couple different articles/tests reported a 4.9 0-60. So $63,000 for a 5.0 sec 0-60 (Depending on Elevation blah blah blah) from an STI. Not a WRX. Currently the 277ft lb JDM WRX S4 has a reported 5.4 0-60 (And that is with a CVT.) This New SPT has been tuned (Maybe even Reworked idk) for the 296Hp Number - Still 277 ft lbs. So... with 296hp vs the 271. Im wondering if this beefed SPT is closer to a 5.0sec 0-60, They're Literally .4 of a Second off from the Realistic Performance of the S209. Since there's only "500" of this Spec SPT/CVT, it unfortunately does make sense that this car is an "S" Model of a WRX Im pretty interested in what kind of Numbers this car will put down on the pavement. Because.. It might be possible that they didn't need more "HP" in order to target the "Performance Numbers" of Previous "S" Models. If they Hit S209 performance numbers with Less Power, then Yeah, technically this would be an "Advancement." But this whole spiel goes down the toilet if all that changes is like .2 sec making it a 5.2 0-60. Either Way, This new Powertrain must have some type of Magic for them to include it in the "S" Line-up. Last edited by Russ_G93; 01-16-2025 at 05:07 PM. |

![]() Texans are trickling into your state because of all the Californians (millions of them have moved into each major TX metro area) that have flooded into TX. DFW is projected to tie Chicago for #3 metro in the entire US by 2028, and tie LA for #2 by 2030. That’s how many millions of Cali people have flooded in here. Along with them, they’ve brought their attitudes, narcissism, entitlement, and politics. Along with that, home prices have skyrocketed here. A byproduct of that is massive property tax increases and homeowners insurance has skyrocketed as well. Goods and services have equally gone up, as well as utility bills and now the state of TX is running out of water. You can watch our State AG cover it in length on YT as he did countless interviews concerning the subject last summer with a number of news affiliates. So millions and millions of Cali people have flooded into TX and they brought their cost of living with them so many are getting out.

![]() Texans are making their way into Phoenix too, along with the Californians. It's very... interesting. Also more and more of my Alaskan friends have worked their way down here and more are planning on coming.
I love me some Texans. They can stay. |

![]() Completely disagree. S model parts where bespoke and in Japan up until a certain point in tbe 10s you needed a vin to get parts. If you say STI anywhere in the world people know you’re referring to the Impreza sti. Sure they made a deal forester and legacy STI along the way, but those “sti” trim models where always just cosmetics and minor performance parts. This S209 is way way off the scale of what Subaru does. 5 years ago it would be unheard of to think they’d do something like this

![]() I definitely agree using the S210 name on this car may not have been the best choice. Subaru is doing what it can to drum up excitement for a vehicle never destined to offer much more performance than what you can get in a base trim. Is this the S series car we wanted? Nope. Is it a real S series vehicle? Yes.
Subaru has definitely offered variations of the Legacy and Forester deserving the designations of STI. Although not all of them came with that designation. I still want an SG5 Forester STI today. I find them equally as impressive as any Impreza STI. I do agree that when the three letters STI come up among enthusiasts. The Impreza is the vehicle everyone assumes you are talking about. This is the reason I think Subaru should have never separated the WRX from the Impreza. How many base Civics are sold to people dreaming of owning an Si or Type R? How many people settle for a Pentastar Challenger but wanted a Scat Pack? How many Impreza are rolling around doing their best impression of a WRX. Those dreaming of the car they can't quite afford settle for the one they can and return to the brand when they can get their dream vehicle. Acura renamed their vehicles and axed the Integra/RSX in an attempt to move up market even when they knew the younger buyers who could afford these vehicles were very likely to return to the brand as their income increased. And 16 years later...still failing to position their brand higher...what did we get...an Integra again... Last edited by Gixhost; 01-17-2025 at 10:47 AM. |
