Yeah, my bad also on the spell fail. The outback should still have a mechanical shifter, but Ryan from driving sports TV recently did a comparison video of the 25 outback touring and the crown signia. When Ryan went over the interiors, I recognized that raised position of the dash right away based on what I saw in the recent camo vids

Sorry if I wasn't following- Is this supposed to be(or close to) what Subaru is doing for the interior of the '26 OB?

Honestly, I'd call that an improvement over the current Outback just based on the presence of physical controls for HVAC. The screen is a lot smaller too (shorter) and the gauge screen being able to display navigation is a huge upgrade.

They heard ours cries and they responded. Not only did they remove the big tablet, we got back our buttons too. Recognize the new all around sensor button on the right side of the steering wheel. No more messing with the screen for basic operations. What does this new unit mean for the incoming wilderness trim. Do we get a dedicated all around camera system to work similar to a trail mode

The volume knob? The matching tuning knob is on the other side.

I see two completely different units. One has matte black surroundings and the volume and tuning knobs towards the bottom of the screen. The more complete unit has the gloss black surroundings and the volume knob toward the top of the screen. Different units for different trims

One looks production, and one looks like a mule mockup. What it isn't is an "all around sensor knob"

what all around sensor knob?. Are you confusing it with what I said about that button on the right side of the steering wheel. Nissan and I believe some BMW have that all around sensor button in which it does a system check of all the driver aid sensors. It looks like a car symbol with 4 arrows around it

It reminds me of the interior of the new 2025 Camry. Which is a beast of a car. AWD, 230hp, Hybrid 2.5liter 44mpgs. (Notice the volume knob.). New Camry takes a massive dump on Subaru's Legacy. Leaving us wondering.. "Okay so why are we letting Toyota Out-Subaru Subaru again?"

It cannot be clearer that Subaru is honestly just in need of money.

Still would Prefer a Spec. B 2009 Legacy

it doesn't take much to be an improvement over the current Outback.

I loathe the infotainment/climate controls in that thing. I'm not entirely sure how my wife deals with it on a daily basis.

It's bigger.

I'm sure there will be a surround view option on several trims.......just like the current Solterra and Forester.

Subaru is investing that money into things again. A WHOLE new EV plant. R&D center for EVs and other tech. And I'm sure numerous other things. Like the future of EyeSight. Got to see a demo couple years ago. Lots of things coming down the line........likely using the money you think they need.

Oh Yeah 100%. I was just speculating on the S210. The current JDM WRX S4, with 277ft lbs is only half a second off from 2019 S209 STI 0-60 times. So if they can achieve those numbers with less power, then that would technically be an advancement and would make sense as a S model. I think Subaru is on track to have a pretty solid 2025/26 sales number year.

The last thing the S209 was about was 0-60.

"Car and Driver"
At the track, it got to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and through the quarter-mile in 13.0 flat. That's a tenth quicker in both measures than we managed in its quickest predecessor.

This is actually one of my gripes about articles posting performance numbers because it usually puts a car all over the board until you drive on yourself. I drove one here at Newport Beach in 2020. My best time with my buddy hit a 4.8sec right there by Crystal Grove state park before the residentials, using a dragy. When driving the Elantra N (an auto) for the first time, we had achieved a 4.9sec on the dragy back in 22' while using the "turbo boost button".

You're right though, it isn't all just about the straight line. As a VB based Car - Not STI Based, this S210 is using the adaptive suspension system along with the other added goodies it has behind the wheels. The VB by itself is undoubtedly a better handling car than the VA gen. It certainly felt better than my other buddy's Series White (He Traded in for a 2023 after driving mine).
I really don't think there's any issue with the S210's Handling Characteristics in comparison to previous -But Being an Automatic, the 0-60 is in Fact pretty important if you are trying to compare it to Previous S line Models. By all means -If it proves unsatisfactory after someone takes it to the track for a review, then yeah pretty stupid choice for a S Line Model.

Although here in the states, VB is the first time we have adaptive suspension for a Subaru. Of course it would be on the S Model line, its a "Gucci" feature offered by the brand.
The Performance of the JDM WRX S4 Current (271hp/277ftlbs) is literally Half a Second off from competing with the Elantra N and Toyota GR Corolla. Car and Driver says the Auto GRC does a 4.9. If it proves to not really compete even as a "Special Edition" then Ill be right there with yeah as far as criticizing Subaru's decision. I just want to see how the Car Drives first.

I mean.. what about the 2013 WRX STI A-Line? Had a 5spd auto tiptronic + DCCD.

300 PS and 350 NM in this STI. Had a 5.3 0-60. The Honest Test here with the S210 is being Better than this 2013 Automatic STI. Its obvious they looked at this model before deciding what the S210 would be.

I'm hoping the Outback breaks cover in Chicago next month, but it'll likely be in New York in April as that's where Subaru usually releases their new cars

I agree, I see the forester hybrid and possibly forester wilderness being shown in Chicago. Meanwhile the brand new outback has the big stage to itself in NY in April.
