Default So i traded my 2.5i up to a wrx

yea..ive only had the car for a week and put about 50 miles on it before i decided to go back and kill my wallet every month for a wrx instead, they gladly let me exchange it(for a fee of course) but i felt much better about the decision when i got home, my insurance didnt go up to much either so im pretty happy about it i dont know i just hope i dont get fired within the next few months, oh yea i told my mom about it(she spotted me the 3k to put the down payment) she thought i had gone crazy and my dad was like, it has a turbo?

I'm definitely interested in hearing about this, since I just bought an RS after considering the WRX for quite some time. Since I'm still in the break-in period I have not really wrung it out yet.

I looked hard at the total ownership cost vs. performance and tuning potential, and decided to learn how to drive a slow car fast and save some bucks, deferring purchasing a WRX for a couple of years. THe RS is a great car, and I enjoy driving it. Plus, I'm interested in seeing what comes out in 2008...!

I have to admit, though, that I sometimes think about just driving back to the dealer and saying, "Okay, give me a WRX--whatever!"

So, how did you work this deal?

I didnt go nowhere, i have college and stuff so i had been busy hahaha, any ways here how it went, my mom finaced the 2.5i car in her name because she had an awsome credit rating, she put 3k down and drove off the lot with it, the car is co-signed in my name too, after getting it insured on her insurance i had the car for a week i call up the dealer ship explaining i wanted to see if i could "trade-up" for a wrx under a return policy so the car wouldent depreciate too mcuh, he explained i only had three days to make that choice, then he handed the phone over to the manager, i explained the car only had 50 miles on itall the platic covers were still on it, its co-signed under my mothers credit and he told me and my mom to come on down and "we'd see what we could work out" i of course went down there by myself knowing there was NO WAY my mom was going to let me trade up unless i had a logical excuse apparently "BUT ITS GOT A TURBO!!" isnt a good enough excuse. i lied and told the manager my mom couldent make it she would be away. because i was the cosigner and over 18 he charged me a 3 day return fee 1018.67$(came out of my checkbook) we re-signed the finance agreement under my mom's credit but in my name. i explained to my mom the next day and we went it to get it insured. but trust me there was Hours and hours of questioning at the dealership befor i finally drove off the lot, plus the manager wasnt a hardass about it.

Is this a 06 TR or Wrx? I know I would regret it so bad if I were to be stuck with a car I truely did not want for 3-5 years, and knowing I could afford the monthly. When I picked my WRX over an STI it was to save my parents from the shock of the insurance not the monthly payments, and I'm 100% happy on my choice of going WRX, but I freeking hate getting a TR (no freeking dealers in VA had anything else but TR's). I love the engine, I love the new look, but I'm paranoid about the tranny. Good choice of stepping up and getting what you want. I'm just upset over the TR because I had to pay for the fogs, wing, and mirror covers and that would have equaled to the total of a WRX....but no one around had any.....and the seats are ugly.

The WRX and WRX TR have the same tranny though? Or am I misunderstanding what you meant...and you are happy with the WRX TR, but wanted an STi for it's tranny?

its a TR, no spoiler, the notoriously weak 80-watt stereo system and no six disc changer all things ill be improving upon with time, i didnt see the advantage of getting a all out wrx-non tr. i also chose the tr because i had plans to order an sti spoiler within a few months.the wrx-non tr is way overpriced comepared to a wrx tr, the dealership must think most car buyers are idiots.

*I thought the only diffrence between the tr and wrx was just the extra little non-performance features, im pretty sure the tranny in both the tr and wrx are the same.

Yeah they are the same but I'm paranoid that my first launch will break a gear lol. The 6-speed is proven and tested, while the 5-speed is well known...in a bad way.

well, im not positive but i would assume that since theres a turbo in it the manufacure's took that into account and toughened up the gears to hold up better than somthing wihtout a turbo, but thats just my guess, and hope.
