Default Traveling from DC to Jax, FL Thursday, Need SE Members Input Please

Hey everybody,

It's been about three years since I have driven through the Southeast on I-95. On Thursday evening, I will be making a drive between Washington, DC and Jacksonville, FL on I-95 for a get together. I was curious, are any of the states along the way doing night construction on I-95 in particular areas? If so, do you know if they are closing lanes and such to do the work? Also, are local/state law enforcement really focusing on any particular stretches of that interstate (besides state lines). If so, I will make sure that I will keep a very firm eye on the speedometer thru the focused areas.

Thank you everybody for any input that you may have on this.

Between Savannah, GA and JAX there some construction going on, when I drove from JAX to Hinesville, GA a few weeks ago at traffic was bumper to bumper at 2 PM on a weekday, my suggestion if you hit this traffic get on the coastal highway/ highway 17 and that will run you into Jacksonville / JAX NAS

GA always has construction zones on 95. Watch your speed because county sheriffs will be present.

Having driven from NC to Fla twice in the last 2 weeks...I would say this...

NC/SC border is some patrol activity...
more activity when 95/26 merge....
SC/GA border is some more....
Savannah is crucial...With patrols set up north or the city...and south of the city...Some unmarked....(White Chevy Pickup truck, Grey Tahoe...and a Red Mustang...newer models...
I have a Valentine one...and it Rarelywent off.....they like to pace you...

Oh one other area is coming into Jax...on 95 between Fernadina and the Airport they usually hang out in droves there and pluck as necessary..they have motorcycle and cars continually pulling people...

Along with the construction that reconracer said...

Usually...if your about 8 over...they won't mess with you....not to many opportunies to open it up anyways...because of all the snowbirds coming south....(New England Area...NYers..Penn and Ohio seem to the majority of the travelers...Set the cruise at 78...and just ride...Thats my suggestion...

faster than that you won't get to go far because some idiot in a motor home got tired of some other idiot in motorhome is going 3 mph slower than him and feels like he needs to pass him...so now both lanes are bogged anyway...

G'luck...and safe speeding...

Bill
