News I can confirm the Conti DWS06 are louder than the Dunlop SportMaxx

So, in preparation for the upcoming winter in SW OH, I swapped out the OE Dunlop SportMaxx Summer Performance tires on my '19 WRX for something a bit more "all temperature" friendly and since temperatures are dipping below 40*F in November, I thought it was a good time to switch to new rubber.

[The Dunlops only had 2200 miles on them at the time of the switch.]

After much debate and research, I went with the Conti DWS06. Other considerations were the Nokian WRG4 and General G-Max AS-05; nothing crazy, just "normal" tires.

After driving on these tire for 2 weeks, I can confirm that they are louder than the SportMaxx tires. I knew this going into the new tires, but I thought I'd share.

The DWS06 have a lot more siping and tread blocks, so more noise should be expected, plus, I guess it's a Subaru. It isn't an all-terrain tire or a mud tire, but I think it is a bit noisier than it should be; but I'm no tire expert.

There is one issue I am having...I can't seem to get the balance correct on them. I've been to the tire place 2x already and I'm still getting a hand massage every time I drive, especially at speeds above 65mph. I'm going back a 3rdd time to see if they can get a better balance or if there is some inherent flaw in the tires I have.

Anyone else with DWS06s have tire balance issues?

So far, the Dunlop SportMaxx are the superior tire above 40*F.

Those Contis are loud for sure. I'm on my second set, performance is good but yea they are not quiet at all. They're louder than my Dunlop winter tires.

Have you tried rotating the tires to see if you can isolate which one is out of balance? I'd try putting fronts on the rear and see if problem persists.

If all else fails bite the bullet and take it to a different shop to have them check and re-balance. I didn't have balance issues on either of my DWS06s sets.
